Simple and classic here.

No, I wouldn’t buy it. 

1) because I couldn’t afford it 😛

2) because it is a bit much for my taste. 

My opinion does not change dependant on the center stone.

gardnerg:  Just for reference I have a 3.5 carat garnet set in my Tacori. The halo isn’t as much bling as yours but kinda similar as far as the red stone, surrounded by halo. We also considered a ruby. I don’t think you need to tone down the bling. We considered a diamond center, but ended up going with the garnet, and buying a second tanzanite ring instead. If I wanted to put all the $ into one ring, I would have rocked a 3.5 carat diamond in mine too! Get what you love!!!!! All three options would be gorgeous! But I personally think the diamond is stunning! Good luck!!!

gardnerg:  Awe, thank you!!! I love big too! I only wear mine when I’m out, never at home, never to the gym, etc, so being large hasn’t been an issue for me!!! Let us know what you decide!!!!

i personally like it but would prefer the halo a little smaller so the center stone would stand out more, but hey if I get that I’d be more than happy to rock that ROCK!

gardnerg:  Another reasonably ‘classic’ bee here, although I definitely also have my ‘celeb’ and ‘casual’ moments!

I’m afraid I’m not a big fan of that particular ring. I don’t mind the overall size, but it’s more to do with the balance. It’s such an amazing centre stone and funnily enough, I feel like encasing it in such a large/thick halo and band takes away from that. One of those cases where less is more, perhaps? I wouldn’t prefer it with a coloured stone. 

I think it would be phenomenol with a similar centre stone but more subtle halo. If you wanted to add a little something to compensate for having a more delicate halo, would you consider a fancy cut centre stone? Perhaps even just an oval or emerald cut or something to give it extra wow factor?

No, I also think “way too much.” I’m more simple/casual or all black everything, depending on my mood. It’s hard to explain, but I find that ring tiring to look at – sorry if it sounds harsh, I understand that my tastes aren’t everyone’s.

gardnerg:  Personally for me, no I wouldn’t have it. I don’t really like halos but for me this halo in particular is too big and takes away from what should be a gorgeous 3ct centre stone. I am simple and classic, love my solitaires and a bit of something special in detailing.

Celebrity re: style (I don’t get to wear my 4-6 heels anymore bc I’m tall and Fiance isn’t 6’5″ like most of my exes, sigh) and it’s just a bit much for me.

I LOVE it! I have small hands and a big ring. If YOU love it, YOU wear it!

Others will sometimes find it gaudy or flashy or unmodest, etc. That’s them! The ruby looks great too!

Looks great on your hand. If it was mine I’d go for a more delicate halo and band but if that’s not your style, go for it!!!!
