- Wedding: July 2011
Well, here goes. My first ever blog contribution.
So, to give you a bit of background about us, myself and Mr P are from England, we live in England and we’re getting married in England. We got engaged last May (we beat Kate & Wills at the announcement post) and our wedding is July 1st this year (Kate & Wills pipped us there – scallywags they are). To say I haven’t had the most enjoyable engagement is somewhat understated. It has been the most stressful experience of my life. Here’s why…
When we got engaged it was great. I was SO happy. Then we had the task of planning the day. With family in USA, Asia and all around, we had to pick a day when everyone could make it. We picked 1st July, as it’s before the school holidays in England (honeymoon cheaper) and it’s after I finish my degree.
Oh yeah – I’m doing a degree. I’m in my final year now, but when we got engaged I said categorically that I could not plan a wedding and do my finals at the same time. So what am I doing now… yup you guessed it…. both!
Let’s add to the mixture, I had a minor operation on my back in February and since then it hasn’t been great, but it’s liveable with.
Oh, and then my Mum was really ill over Christmas and decided to drop out of helping with the horse we own.. so that was down to me. Love her, she’s ok now but still only helps out with the mare once a week. Plus I had another girl helping me out who went and bought her own nag, so it’s down to me. Which I don’t mind really to be honest as I love Pony P to bits – she is my saviour in all this stressful messful!
Needless to say it’s been a bit of a journey to get here. That’s all on top of trying to find a venue to hold a laid back reception after having 3 venues let us down. First one changed the rules, second double booked, third doubled the price, so we’re on our 4th and hopefully it won’t change now that we are SO close.
So now we’re at the stage where we have spent the last 5 days doing a bit of Blue Peter (kids program in England) and putting the invites together. Mr P, love him, has been sterling at this but needs some direction at times. At the same the dissertation has been drifting along nicely to get up 6604 words. Only 3396 to go.
Has anyone else had THE most stressul experience with wedding planning? Or am I just plain unlucky? I so wish I had Queenie’s aide’s to help out sometimes.. Wouldn’t that be nice?
