Hi! I find this really frustrating as well. I would reccomend a firm e-mail just asking for prices and simpley state that you need prices before any meetings. Its a pain but I found it useful to be as straightforward as possible.

Most of the photographers that we are looking at have prices on their websites, at least their package prices.  The DOCs or coordinators usually are service based so it will depend on what services that you are looking for.  I would just keep to emails, that way, if they are bad about getting back to you then you know that they may not be the person that you want to work with anyway.

Copy paste into an email, this worked for me:

I’m interested in learning more about your services for our wedding on _______.  Please let me know if you’re available for that date and what your price range is.  I realize you won’t be able to provide specific pricing information until we speak in person, but I want to avoide meeting with vendors I know I am unable to afford, so ballpark basic price ranges would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

If they don’t provide prices, they don’t get a call. Period.
