I brought some pictures to show the assistant of what I liked about certain dresses. I also wore spanx so I wouldn’t feel as self conscious when getting naked in front of a total stranger, lol. I would definately wear a strapless bra if you have one, so you can get an idea of what it would look like. Also, keep an open mind to the dresses you try on! Some might surprise you! I wasn’t sure about this one dress, I thought it may have been too much lace, but it turned out to be the one!

Make sure you eat too! Trying on dresses can be exausting. Oh, and have FUN! It’s such a great time and I hope you have a fabulous experience!

yay! if you have a strapless, bring it… if not, they usually have one you can wear while you try on the dress (although this kind of skeeves me out!). wear flesh colored undies too! definitely try to bring some pics of dresses you like (preferably dresses they have IN the store if possible). it’s helpful to let the consultant know which type of dress you like. good luck! 🙂

@kelcheer412: I am too, but I got over it fairly quickly. One of the salons I went to actually asked me if I wanted to try to put them on myself and I tried…. and failed, lol. They are much more difficult to put on than I thought they were! I eventually got too tired to lift them over my head over and over (I had to lift them over and do the “superman” to get into most dresses because my hips are bigger than my top). So I just called her in when I was ready and “dove” right in! Lol. I thought I would be really uncomfortable with another person in there seeing me change, but it actually wasn’t too bad! They have seen hundreds of naked women getting in and out of wedding dresses, so it’s nothing new to them!

Oh and also, if you have someone coming with you, take pictures if possible of your favorites and write down the style numbers/names with a little description so you can remember which one is which if you have multiple dresses that you like.

@AbbyDabbyDoodleBug: haha! totally agree. at the beginning i was all shy about stripping down to my undies. after the 2nd or 3rd store, i was totally fine. those women have seen ALL kinds of bodies!

definitely take pictures. there were some dresses that i loved on me – but when i got home and looked at pictures, i hated them. so, yes. take pictures if they let you (or even if they don’t let you — sneak pictures!)
