I’ve been reading through some old boards for ideas but figured there might be new ideas that could help me. Darling Husband and I have been together for 10 years but will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary this month and I am totally stumped on a gift idea! I feel like I’ve gotten him every gift possible by now!
I was trying to find something to do with paper, but aside from concert tickets (there isn’t anyone coming to our area that he would want to see) I can’t come up with anything. He doesn’t read, he doesn’t really care about pictures or anything for the house so I’m totally stumped! I even thought about the modern version (clock) but he doesn’t need a new watch either! What are your favorite gifts that you’ve given your SO (or received) or for those who are married, what did you give/receive for your first anniversary?

pinkprincess88 : I gave my husband a paper treasure map with clues that he had to decipher.
It basically took us on a tour of the vineyard area which is a short drive from where we live. The area is a known food/wine/experiences destination so we went to wineries, brewery’s, artisan coffee roasters, chocolate factories, cheese factories, places that do Devonshire tea etc.
We did that the day of our 1st wedding anniversary. My husband loved it and we make it an annual thing to do in spring every year now. We love visiting old haunts and discovering the new ones that have popped up. Ironically we never realised that all this existed on our doorstep before that day. I thought it would be fun to plan the treasure map but not as cool as it actually was to discover all these new places together.
Maybe you can do a paper treasure map with new experiences in the place you live?

My husband gave me a Lovebook (look it up). It was also, uteky the most thoughtful & wonderful gift I could have received! I laughed, cried & have read it a million times

My Darling Husband didn’t know about the paper gift thing, but he got me pandora charms for my bracelet and I came home from our weekend away to a huge bouquet of flowers.
I got him tickets to a football game for November. It’s the team he loves, even though I don’t! Lol

My husband got me a special gift certificate (paper) for an anniversary sundial (a cool clock that uses the sun) and did both traditional and modern 1st anniversary gifts in one! I thought he was pretty clever doing that, but the sundial was wonderful – it is made of glass and sits on the windowsill indoors in our family room, and it makes beautiful rainbows in the room whenever the sun shines. It also has a personalized date line that the time shadow follows on our anniversary day each year. I don’t remember what it’s called but you can find it online with a search. I thought it was a brilliant idea!

I LOVE the “Lovebook” and got Fiance one for Christmas last year. I have also been looking at “The Night Sky” which is a poster of the sky on whatever night you choose from whatever location you choose, I’m going to get one of either the night we had our first date or our wedding, but pretty neat. Both fall into the paper category…

Love the treasure map idea. Similiar to what we do, but may add a few of your elements. My sister in law received a sketch of her dress and his suit. I really love this idea a lot. My husband gave me this on our wedding day. He is not really into art, but loves it as much as I do. He used this super cute company called Dreamlines. http://www.mydreamlines.com/ I have given this a few times as gifts and they all turned out perfectly.

cmsgirl : this is something I would LOVE and Darling Husband would be like seriously why are we doing this 😔 I absolutely love this idea though and wish it was something he’d go along with!!
mandakay0021 : I saw these!!! Again something I’d love to receive and something he would not. I’m trying to learn to give him gifts that he’d actually want and not what I’d want. It’s hard!
Cheekie0077 : if we weren’t on a budget I was going to get him tickets to a pro hockey game. Maybe next year!
CherylCoffee : I like this! Might have to look into it. He’s into science so I feel like he might like that!
ajillity81 : genius. Pure genius. This is exactly what I should do! Darling Husband is SUPER practical when it comes to gifts, and we love hosting game night, so this would be perfect 😃
crazychickenlady : this is one of those things that I would bawl over because it’s such an awesome idea and Darling Husband would be like….what? He’s not heartless, I swear 😂
EricaSB : going to have to check that out!
MrsBuesleBee : hoping Darling Husband does something that cute for me! I love love love this.

I ordered framed maps from etsy that had both of our hometowns on them. And another that had a map of the city we got engaged in & the city where we got married.
