Well, we got a letter this weekend from our wedding venue (ceremony & reception will both be there) that as of November 1st they will be relocating!! Fiance open the letter, and read it.. then in a panic threw it at me and said “What is this, I don’t understand.. what’s going on?!” lol Currently our venue is attached to a Comfort Inn, but is it’s own business/catering hall.. They’re giving us the option to stay at the current location, and Comfort Inn will honor our contract etc Or to make the move with them. The new location is only about 5 minutes away from where they are now.. it’ll be a “brand new state-of-the-art catering hall & ballroom.” One thing that really made us choose the original location was because it was attached to a hotel, I loved that people didn’t have to go anywhere after if they didn’t want to.. they could just stumble up to their room. The hotel they’re suggestioning we use now, is about 10-15 minutes away.. they said as part of our package they will offer shuttle services… so that’s cool, but it’s still not attached to the building. May 31st they’re having dinner & drinks for everyone that’s being affected, and having a meeting to give more details. I’m quite surprised how calm I’m being about it.. but I keep telling myself “It’ll all work out in the end, it’ll be fine..” A lot worse could of happened!!
On the bright side, I think I picked out a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress for my girls Only $100 and they get 20% off the dress if they choose not to get their alterations done there.. which is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard.. but I’m not going to question it!

@X0JLYNN03: Love how well you are handling this change…keep this serenity as long as you can!!
Good score on the weird dress deal too, yay!

Wow! That’s crazy! Good job on being calm – I don’t think I would be.
Just think, though, you are going to hold your weddding in a new, gorgous ballroom, that only a handful off other people have used. I would be kind of excited about that.
As for the hotel not being attached thing, I think the shuttle is just as good. It might take your guests a little longer to get back to their hotels rooms, but at least no one will be driving and that’s the important thing, right?
Good luck! I’ll have to look up where your venue is going, since, as you know, I’m a fellow Ohio bride 🙂

My venue emailed me a few weeks ago and told me THEY GAVE AWAY MY DATE!!!! and asked if I would mind moving mine…. I FLIPPED! We had a signed contract and a deposit. She said she thought I wouldn’t mind because it was for another couple who’s venue had also double booked them. I was livid! I told them that I would be happy to change if they would pay to change every plane ticket and hotel reservation, as well as take half off of my catering bill. Guess who still has their date? Lol.

@WhiteWedding: Now that is crazy!! How would any business think that is acceptable.. I guess you feel bad for the other couple, but in reality.. that’s not your problem! And if you already had a signed contract, you could of taken them to court so fast! Glad you stuck your ground & didn’t give in!
@coffeegal85: You are right.. I’m excited to have a brand new venue, they said they’ll have fire places, a nice patio, valet parking.. it’s in downtown Willoughby.. although I have no idea where they’ll build a big new building down there… it’s such a busy area as it is! All I can do is go with the flow, and hope for the best! I trust them and am sure it’ll be a fabulous spot! And yeah, having the shuttles is a great thing.. if they didn’t we would of had to hire a company to shuttle people, there’s no way I want people driving after!

I would go with the brand new venue. They have been really thoughtful to make sure your contracts were honored at the old venue and they’re hosting a gathering. Sounds like good people and a new venue. Don’t think you can go wrong 🙂
@WhiteWedding: I would have been so angry. I’m glad you stood your ground!
