A few months ago I was attending a local bridal show and came across a vendor for wine. I browsed through the selection and was about to be on my way until the manager pulled me aside and told me about a great deal they were doing. Apparently Beringer Black Label is rebranding and the warehouse wanted to kick out all their inventory at a MAJOR discounted price. The bottles which typically sold at 15.00/a bottle were being discounted to 40.00 a CASE!!! Umm, YEAH! I quickly put in my order and went on my way.
As a total A-type, I called almost bi-weekly to confirm my order would be ready for pick up this week and was assured each time by the manager my cases were waiting for me in their stock room. (Yeah, I’m THAT bride that’s freaks out about everything! Not a bridezilla- but waaaay too consumed by my lists…LOL)
Fast forward to yesterday…I show up to pick up my cases of wine. Mind you, I offered to pre-pay for my cases and pick them up a few months back but she insisted it was not a big deal and I could pay upon pick up the week of the wedding. This partly played into why I called bi-weekly…it made me a tad bit nervous.
Long story short, I show up yesterday to pick up my wine…the manager that I had been working with for the past few months had been let go a few days ago…and they sold my cases of wine!!! They no longer even carried the wine I ordered.
*Begin HULKING OUT NOW*
I very sweetly and calmly explained the situation and begged them to search other stores for inventory. I started to visibly lose my cool, but kept my words totally professional and cool. After all was said and done…they let me pick the wine of MY CHOICE and gave it to me for an even cheaper discounted price than the original wine I had ordered.
HOLY *&%^*%$&@!!!!!!!!!! The wedding gods were shining down on my yesterday! It’s funny, it’s very out of my character to get in this situation. Typically, I would have just purchased the wine right then and there and would have never run into this issue. I’m so stoked it turned out the way it did though!
Lesson learned- I cannot control ANYTHING (especially with this wedding!)…but, sometimes things work out even better than I imagined! Therefore, as of today- just a few short days of my wedding- I’m releasing ALL negative stress energy! Time to relax! Whatever happens, happens- right?? 😀
