Sigh… I know i shouldnt get my hopes up about things, but it’s really really hard when you fall in love with a venue. I fell more in love with the idea of the venue, but still.
We started looking in Warwick Valley Winery. Our budget for the place is (i thought) pretty good. Their options start at $45-55 a head. Sounds good right? then its $18 a head for drinks, 18% grauity, 8% NY Sales tax, and on top of that, $35-55 per person for tent/chair, table rental since indoors cant accomodate a group our size (125 ish).. It’s already coming out to be like 3K over budget! And thats before dress, flowers and photographer!
It just sucks. Sucks real bad. 🙁 I wrote them some questions about maybe working with us and our budget, cutting out foods, or stopping alcohol early.. she wrote back that it just isn’t possible and “I’m so sorry, we can’t help you with your wedding.”
It’s the first venue, I know there will be others. Their prices weren’t unreasonable, just out of our budget and I’m just sad about it. 🙁

You are ahead of the game and will find the right venue in time. We looked at 5 venues before making a decision. Venue 1 ended up being more than we wanted to spend, but the other 4 were within our range. Then we realized that venue 5 was out because there was a massive festival being held nn the same weekend and there was a 99% chance that some of our guests would miss the party due to traffic nightmares. Then venue 3 booked our date for another group. Venue 4 dropped the ball and never sent us the info we requested. And venue 2 was my dream all along, so the decision was easy in the end.

I had wanted our first venue idea for years but in the end I couldn’t stomach the price tag. We eventually found somewhere i’d never heard of and I can honestly say, it’s a better deal in every respect. You’ll find somewhere that is just as amazing but that doesn’t have the guilt of a price tag with it too 🙂

I think that I looked at 20 or so before we found ours, the one I originally want and fell in love with had a $30,000 min. I thought that had to be a typo, especially for here in Nebraska, but nope, that was their min, no typo. Take a zero off and it would have still been way over my budget.
