I had the same problem with my mixing bowls from Target.  It took 3 tries before we got a set that arrived at our house intact.

I think that they package the bowls for display on a store shelf.  Then when you order it online, they take that box off the shelf and put it in another box to ship.  They don’t seem to understand that it’s going to get bashed around.

I would recommend trying to find a store near you that sells the set and exchaning it in person.

Ooooh…that stinks. I would expect better from WS! But thanks for the good advice @rosychicklet!

Sorry to hear that they arrived in pieces! Hope Williams Sonoma sends a quick replacement!

That’s disappointing — I would have expected better from WS. Our first gifts from Macy’s were packed REALLY well. Rosychicklet — that’s a good idea about going in store…but it might be worth calling ahead first so you don’t have to lug it back and forth. I think some stores will handle online returns and exchanges but others won’t because it’s a separate division.

We’ve had so many gifts broken from literally every store.. it’s too bad, but it really does happen a lot. I would suggest returning them at the store so you can avoid shipping.

Jenny Bee, I’m glad to see that WS have been so on-the-ball about sending a replacement. What a disapointment that they arrived broken. At least the person who sent it will never know, and there was an easy solution. Hope you get lots of great use out of the bowls!

Glad to hear that WS seems to be on top of it. If it happens a second time, then check and see if you can return it to a store. But maybe the first set was defective anyway (maybe it had a small hairline crack) so you’re better off that it broke before you started using it, not while you were using it!!!

Boy, no wonder the price of things is so expensive… They are having to replace them twice.  What a shame!
