Last week, I asked the Bee what type of wedding band would look best with my ring, as I was second-guessing my choice to do the matching pave band from Blue Nile. I got a lot of great suggestions on ring styles, and even more encouragement to go try some on 🙂
So last night, my fiance and I got off of work in time to catch an open jewelry store (Zales was the only one left open though), and we tried a few on to get an idea.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about what looks best with my ring 🙂
[Disclaimer – the light in Zales made my beautiful E color diamond look dark, which it is not at all! I’ve never seen it look like that before. I know this is a silly thing to have a disclaimer about, but it made me grumbly.]
Band 1: This is very similar to the look I was orginally set on – a thin, matching pave band. I was happy to see that it didn’t sit so flush with my ring that it just looked like one thick band.
Band 2: Milgrain edges. I tried this on one at the suggestion of MerryWidow, and I was surprised how much I loved it on my hand. The whole effect was just so SPARKLY 🙂 I also liked the way it looked alone, but I don’t plan on wearing the band by itself any time in the next few years, so I don’t know how important that is right now. My concern for this ring is that the thickness of the set makes my short fingers look shorter.
Band 3: Rose Gold Pave. This was another bee suggestion (from Belles64 and JustLove25). I actually liked it with my e-ring (the contrast was cool), but by itself it just looked too close to my skin color and blended in strangely.
Band 4: Plain band. I thought I would like this one more! But the shiny surface reflected the cathedral setting of my e-ring, and caused a weird black splotch effect :-/ I will not be going with this one, so just including it for reference lol.
Which ring is your favorite of these?

I personally really like the look of thin bands. I think they’re delicate and beautiful, so I picked the first option!

@sarahbabs: I love 1 and 4! I personally love pave settings (hence 1), but I also love the look of the plain band since your ering has a pave setting. I am going to make it even harder though and say that I also think a thinner plain band (perhaps with a knife-edge) would be nicer, since the band of your ering is also so thin, it would create a nice symmetry 🙂 JMHO

I like the Milgrain Edges Band. It’s not as matchy-matchy os the pave band but it still looks like it meshes will with the e-ring. I don’t think your fingers look short 🙂

I really like the first combo.

I loooove that rose gold one omg!!!

I like the thin pave and the rose gold pave. Depends on how different you want to be. I’d probably go with the rose gold, just because it’s interesting and lovely and not so matchy, but they’re both lovely.

I love milgrain, so I’m biased….I think it adds glitter, where the e-ring adds sparkle!

I like the milgrain one, mostly as it just screams out more to me “I am a wedding band!”. Ha. I like that it is more substantial, and does not blend in so much with your e-ring.I also REALLY like how it looks on its own!
I agree that rose gold is so pretty, but if it looks strange to you with your skin tone, then I don’t think you would be happy with it!

I like #2 and #4. They stand out nicely and don’t compete with your e-ring. My first choice would have been the rose gold one but since you said it looks strange with your skin tone I wouldn’t go that route.

I love the first band with your ring. I am not a fan of rose gold and I think that the thicker band competes with your ring.

I don’t usually like milgrain but WOW i love the middle one. It really adds sparkle and interest to your hand.

I like the first and fourth options. But they all look good!

I personally like the first pave one the best, but it’s your wedding band and they are all beautifull 🙂

LOVE THE MILGRAIN!!! It does scream ‘wedding ring’ and I like that. I also love how it holds its own against the engagement ring, but also compliments it nicely. Personally I think that ‘look’ looks so elegant and perfect. I don’t think it makes your finger look shorter at all, LOL.
