We reordered a one tier replica of our wedding cake from the bakery that made our cake. (We did save our frozen top tier to try too which wasn’t as bad as we expected.) We had honeymooned in Hawaii so I made us dinner at home inspired by all the food we ate on the islands including a juice that DH was obsessed with when we were there. Dinner was just us, but we invited some family over to eat the cake with us, we watched our wedding video together and had some champagne (apple cider for me, since I’m expecting!). It wasn’t extravagant but we’re a low key couple and it was perfect 🙂

our anniversary is in September, but we are celebrating it by going away to Ireland and Italy in October. We originally wanted to go in September but had to postpone, so since we will be home on our anniversary, we will probably go out to dinner

- Wedding: February 2013 - Mansion House at the MD Zoo
We went to Washington DC (we live in Baltimore) for a night, had a nice dinner, stayed in a fancy hotel. The next day (our actual anniversary) we got tattoos. They are the face of my husband’s wedding watch set to 02:23.13, our wedding date. Mine is a pocketwatch on my hip; he has just the face on his bicep. And I got to post on Facebook, “first anniversary is usually paper, but we got ink!” Yay cheesy status updates.

We went on a cruise – which is what we did for our honeymoon. It was time for a vacation anyway.

We will be going to the wedding of some close friends!

We went up to the mountains where we went on our Honeymoon. My DH almost didnt get the time off from work, Our car started having issues on the way up and we had to turn around and get a rental car, my DH dropped his phone out of a 5 story window, and we got lost on a side trip that we took. It was still absolutely wonderful! I got two cupcakes for us in the flavors of our wedding cake to eat and I made him a little scrapbook of our first year as a married couple, for the traditional “paper” gift.

My DH and I were just talking about this yesterday as our anniversary is in a few months. Not sure he knows it is the paper anniversary so I better tell him. I’m also looking for ideas. We saved the top layer of our cake so we will be eating that. But we already have the wedding album made. We were talking about going to a cabin for the weekend but I’m not sure…

We are not married yet but we already decided that we will go for our anniversaries to a place where we are getting married and have our menu, spa and treatments and sleep in the same suite. we love the place and i think it can bring so many memories.

Sounds like a lot of people went on trips for their anniversary! Unfortunately that is not an option for us – we’re going away for our honeymoon in August, so going on another trip in October is not do-able.
Re-creating the wedding day sounds kind of cool. And the body paint thing would be fun!

We’re just starting TTC and looking to buy a house in the next year or so. We didn’t want to spend too much, so we took a long weekend and went to a casino/spa resort the next state over from us. On our anniversary, we got room service for breakfast, got a couples’ massage, lounged in the spa pool, went out for a fancy dinner and had the top tier of our wedding cake (at least some of it-not the whole thing) in the hotel that night.

We went to the casino and treated ourselves to a fancy dinner at a 5 star restaurant. And gave eachother cards. It was great – and the meal was AH-MAZING!

We went to go see Wicked at our local theater that has all of the touring Broadway shows when they come around. My mom bought us the tickets as a gift, and we sat 2nd row. My husband also surprised me with this really funny heart-shaped sushi platter because sushi is my favorite, favorite, favorite! This past year, on our 2nd anniversary, my husband organized for us to go out of town for the weekend and see Jersey Boys on Broadway in New York. (We recently moved so now we live a 3 hour drive from New York, whereas before we were a 2 1/2 hour plane ride.) We stayed at his family in New Jersey, and then went into the city for the day and saw the show and had a fancy dinner. I guess Broadway shows are our “anniversary” thing now, and it certainly takes the planning aspect out of it. I love seeing musicals and shows, but don’t do it very often, so I love this once a year thing. But maybe when we have kids it may stop, we’ll see.

We’re going on a weekend cruise to Cabo in two weeks! Can’t wait, but I am struggling with what to get him for our 1st anniversary (paper).
