…and i sent it right back. 🙁
to be fair, the band is gorgeous, and the stone is gorgeous, but together…they were somewhat underwhelming. and the solder on the bezel setting was a little sloppy on one side. but mostly, the band just dwarfed the stone. he gave me all the measurements when we discussed it over the phone, so i should have known, or at least asked for a sketch or something, but i chose to trust the salesperson’s judgment on what would work. it’s a 7mm band, and each rail he said would be 1-1.5mm, and that i should allow for 1-2mm for the bezel setting OUTSIDE of the stone. because the rails are apparently separate pieces soldered to the cast/patterned band, they don’t want the stone cutting into the rails…he suggested a 3mm stone would be great. uh, no dice. lol. it’s ok. i can’t get a refund on the bezel setting (i’ll have to purchase a new one), but they can return the stone and put it toward the price of a larger stone, and reset the ring. i’m thinking a 5mm stone would be ideal, but he’s going to have one of the craftsmen measure it and advise on the maximum size stone that can be set on that band.
i snapped a few pix of mr lovely before sending him back though, including a couple with lovely herself. i have to say the color match on the stones is near perfect, and i just love how the trinity knots on the band complement the design below the phoenix motifs on my ring. once there’s a bigger stone on him, he will be perfect.
