They probably won’t exchange it for you because it may be considered “resizing” due to the nature of tungsten, and if you didn’t buy a plan that covered it, they’d probably just require you to purchase a new ring.

Call them up and ask. Explain your situation and see what they say. At the very heart of the matter, the person on the other side of the phone is human. Sometimes miracles can happen, but I wouldn’t expect one.

Congrats on your husband’s weight loss, however. That’s a feat a lot of people wish they could accomplish.

FI’s ring is tungsten from Zales but I think we bought the care plan just in case he needed “resizing.”  I would call them anyway, as @Hyperventilate suggested; you never know!

Glad it worked out! That was one of the big reasons I did not want Darling Husband to get a tungsten ring.

You can get a ring guard/ring sizer at most watch repair shops for about $10.  It’s a little band of metal that slips inside the ring and makes it fit more snugly. It might be a good in-between solution while you sort out what to do for the long run or if Darling Husband still has some weight to lose. There are other products on the market, too, but I like the ring guard best; just feels most comfortable and takes less looking after. Just have it installed and removed by the guy at the watch shop because if it’s done wrong, you can totally scratch up the ring.
