So with the arrival of FI’s cufflinks, cravat and pocket square this week, his wedding day suit/attire is nearly complete!! All he needs now is a pair of funky/colorful socks which I’ve started a whole other thread about as we are not having much luck with these. And an ivory colored shirt. Anyways, here is my handsome Fiance and his accesories:
He bought this suit and tried it on with this waistcoat and cravat but the shop only rent out the waistcoat and cravat and Fiance was looking to purchase as we are having a destination wedding and will be away for a while so rental prices would cost more than purchasing. We somehow managed to find the supplier of the cravat through ebay and got the exact same one for super cheap! The following two photos are the cravat and waistcoat he tried on at the store:
So we found a pretty similar waistcoat online that did the trick (this isn’t the actual shirt he will wear):
Here is a close up of the shoes:
We are both Beatles nuts so these Abbey Road cufflinks were a must and a great find on Ebay:
And these Bjorn Borg boxers I found a year and a half ago when we were contemplating our wedding colors being pink and green. We were contemplating these colors as we were serously seeing these two colors together EVERYWHERE…and one day when I was Christmas shopping, they caught my eye and I bought them as a joke as a Christmas present, but they will most likely end up being his undies for the day (but maybe we will purchase a new pair of these since these are used haha)
So basically the socks and ivory shirt to go…anything I am forgetting?!
My mom seems to think that the pants are too “skinny” and make the shoes look super pointy…but they ARE super pointy to begin with! The skinny trousers are really flattering on him though so I think we are just sticking with that.
Now thats Fiance done, time to focus on my shoes, jewelry, veil, undergarments, garter belt, and basically everythin else! haha

Overall the look is good, vest and cravat and jacket look good together. However I do agree with your mum about the pants, even before I read that comment I saw the pic and went hmm they look like skinny jeans. If you both like the look then that is ok but TO ME suit pants don’t sit like that so it looks odd (TO ME). Because of the skinniness of the jeans it brings a lot of attention to the shoes too – I am guessing with statement shoes you would want that but personally I like when my attention goes to vest/tie/jacket then the deliriously happy grin that every groom has on his face on the day.
Anyway just my opinion – some random online, if you guys like it then don’t worry what anyone else says 🙂

the shoes get a no from me – it may be my lack of fashion forward sense but i first thought he was wearing socks and its not something i would want to see in my photos years down the track. if they were all black they would at be stylish

Personally I hate wide trousers, no man looks good in (basically) parachute pants. I like the skinny pants but they are either a tad too skinny or not working with those particular shoes. It may also be that the pants are currently too long, they should end just at the shoe. I’m being lazy so just click on the link below, the guy on the far right is wearing his trousers at just the right length!

I like everything but the shoes 🙂

@Ms. Martian: Thanks, but the link is not working. It says “forbidden”
Thanks everybody for your ideas and opinions. It is too late though as the shoes are here to stay. We both love them and at the end of the day that is all that matters. I know there are going to be aspects of our attire that people won’t all like but that’s going to occur at every wedding. However, I will suggest maybe some trousers that aren’t as skinny.

I too thought the pants looked a little more fitted than my (or my DH’s) style. However, lots of guys really like that style and lots of girls like that style on guys. So, that’s your call 🙂

Maybe you can tie the kravat so the knot isn’t so giant. It’s kind of overwhelming.

@Zusie: The cravat we ordered came pretied (its not the one in the photo) and I think it is a smaller knot

I love it, except I agree with PP about the pants…something funny there…almost like his pants shrunk lol? I personally LOVE the shoes, Fiance wouldn’t be caught dead in them, but I think they are great…with different pants.
Suit/tux pants don’t have to be baggy or sack like, a fitted trouser is super sexy, I just thing these ones on your Fiance are a bit TOO fitted! But i think overall, it’s a great, fresh look!

I love cool, funky shoes, but I would pass for this occasion.
It really takes away from him, IMO.

@BigFatGreekWedding: I sort of like the trousers. I would have them hemmed to almost no break as someone mentioned above. I think on their own they aren’t too skinny for him. They might simply be too skinny for the proportion of everything else that’s going up top: big cravat, large shirt collar, waistcoat… I bet this suit looks 100% better when he buttons the top button of the dinner jacket, shortens the sleeves, and maybe takes the sides in. But the jacket needs to always be buttoned, I’m guessing, if you don’t want the pants to look out of proportion with everything up top. The swatch of bright waistcoat popping out of the jacket makes everything look so broad up top in these pictures, making the pants look disproportionately skinny. So yeah, double check it with the jacket buttoned and see if that’s what you like. Then tell him to keep it buttoned.
Or plan B: just get less skinny pants 🙂
And those shoes and cufflinks make me happy. I want those cufflinks right now.

I think he looks pretty snazzy 🙂 And I personally like suits that fit a little slimmer so I’m all for the pants. The only thing about the shoes is that the reddish color doesn’t seem quite the same as the scrunchy tie thing and the vest but I don’t think it looks bad. I’m glad you have a guy that’s willing to be a snappy dresser. I’m sure my SO would wear flip flops and cargo shorts if I let him when the day comes lol

@Koi Fishie: Hah its funny cause this is the only time he’s loving going shopping and dressing up snazzy. Its funny cause we are getting married in Greece and I thought it would be cool to have the guys (groom and groomsmen) in fancy-ish beach attire (linen pants or all white etc) but Fiance was not having any of that! Aren’t our men hilarious??

If anyone is interested in how my hubby looked on our wedding day, here is a blog our photographer did! He looks AMAZING! And the shoes were a hit!
