Don’t know if this is classed as fit and flare, but it sort of flared out from the hips down.

@FutureMrs.Spencer:  Have you tried STRUT Bridal Salon?  They specialize in curvy brides;)  It’s where I got my dress.

I personally LOVE fit n flare on curvy brides!  I feel a ball gown or a-line just overwhelms us.  I feel you would look great in a fit n flare and remember a wedding dress is unlike any other dress.  They really do work wonders!

I am street size 14/16 but with 5″ heels and a gorgeous gown felt like a size 4 Wink:

Good luck dress shopping!

I couldn’t imagine myself wearing anything poofy, and I lucked out with the first one I tried on.  Bonny Bridal Unforgettable style 1201

@FutureMrs.Spencer:  I was a size 20 in this picture, the dress is a slim aline. I tried on lots of “flattering” options that covered up my curves but it just made me personally feel like I was hiding! Good luck with your search.

@malisa0607:  Absolutely right. Its not the size, its the shape/silhouette. Ya hear them say it all the time on the wedding shows.

As long as you’ve got a definite waistline I think mermaid gowns look beautiful on anybody. Even short brides. I think the key when it comes to height is that a TRUE mermaid is needed, not a fit and flare. True mermaids don’t flare til the knee. It makes a HUGE difference. I have a long torso, but short’ish legs and wear a 16W street clothes. Oddly enough, in lots of bridal gowns, I was only a size larger, just depends on the manufacturer and the style. Still, fit and flares look awful on me. They make my legs look even shorter even though I’m 5’6, my height is mostly torso. So only real mermaids look right on me.
