I wore a Casablanca 1918 and I have hips.  I was a street size 14 as well and it looked awesome.  I personally think it was more A-line, but Casablanca calls it fit and flare, so…

I think the sample I tried on was a 8.  It fit, but was definitely not flattering and looked a lot better in my size and altered.  I do believe I ordered a 20 though (yeah, it was taken WAY in everywhere except my hips).

I absolutely believe you can rock that dress.  I think fit and flares look better with curves and are very flattering.  I was about a 14 when I bought my trumpet dress. By the time the wedding rolled around I was closer to a 10.  At either size I loved it because of the porportions of my body.  Remember also that when you are dress shopping you don’t have your proper undergarments, etc.  So if you loved it then it will be awesome when you have everything you need.  Go for it!

Just an idea, perhaps davids bridal has a similar dress and you can go in there and try it on in your size just for the visual.  You may be able to find a dress there in the same fit and flare cut just so you can see your body in it.

@SaraLynne024:  have you tried on any other fit and flare dresses?  i would seriouly go to a bridal store that carries your size and try on other fit and flare dresses to see how you like them on you.

i think sometimes the curves look great in a fit and flare or trumpet style dress but you need to feel comfortable in it.

I’m 5’10, and this dress is a size 14 (before alterations and I had no spanx on ithis picture).  I chose it so I could show off what I have left on this 54 year old body. In this picture I probably weighed about 170.
