Hi FitBees! We have had such great participation and excitement over the FitBees group! I think we will be great sources of motivation for each other and all of us will get closer to, if not meet, our personal goals! Because we don’t all have the same goals, I will try to make each challenge inclusive so that everyone can participate. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or things they would like to see in the group, and if you have a victory, let us know about it! If you haven’t joined the FitBees group on Facebook, go do that now: https://www.facebook.com/groups/555468807921531
For the next three days (so that we can get these challenges on a weekly schedule beginning Sundays), I challenge you to come up with what your SMART goal is (more about that in a sec) and post it here, how you’re going to get there, and to take your ‘before’ pics so that you can see how far you go!
The second part of the challenge is to put that SMART goal out into the world in a way that will help keep you motivated. If you have to write in on post-its and stick it everywhere in your house and at work, do that. If it would best motivate you to tell a friend, your FI/SO, or a coworker, then tell them. The point is to put your goals out there so that you are accountable to them.
Now, SMART goals…they are:
Specific – The what; what are you going to do? Go to the gym-how often? Lose weight-how much? Tone up-what does that mean to you?
Measurable – How are you going to know when you’ve attained the goal? This is generally a quantifiable way to measure something, but not always. In this case, probably so.
Attainable – You need to be able to realistically meet your goal. Bench-pressing 600 pounds is obviously not attainable, for most of us. Bench-pressing 100 pounds, possibly, after a lot of work and training. Bench-pressing 50 pounds…very attainable, still with work and training. Just keep your abilities and schedule and budget in mind here.
Results-Focused – Your why. Do you want to feel better? Do you want to fit into your wedding dress? There are a million whys out there, but the most important one, and the one that will keep you going is this one.
Time-bound – Your timeline…this will give you a timeframe in which you will complete this goal, and a deadline to keep you going. The time is going to pass anyway, so why not have reached that goal when that time is gone?
2015 is our year, ladies! We are going to be FEARLESS when it comes to our goals, we’ve got this! Now, keep doing what you’re doing and post those SMART goals! Next challenge (and this one will be physical!) begins on Sunday, 1/4/15!
