@ruby26:  SI joint dysfunction for almost 2 years! I’m actually going in for a cortisone injection today, so hopefully that helps. That’s awesome you ran in college! I didn’t start until 5 years ago but I’ve raced a fair amount since then. I’m sure you know plenty about running! I would just say don’t go out too fast on race day- I think that’s the #1 mistake people make!

@SpecialSundae:  Well, I’m definitely glad to be doing stronglifts for now based on your results! Good luck for the competition, you’ll have to let us know how you do. How are you finding the 5/3/1 BBB? I looked into the Wendler stuff but just found it a bit too confusing.

@cece_intheuk:  Honestly, I thought it looked really confusing, but I love only doing one lift each day but lifting more each week. By the time I was through 9 months of Stronglifts it was taking two hours for each session at the very least.

The only thing I don’t like is that I feel like a total weakling trying to do pull-ups, which are one of my weakest points.

@SpecialSundae:  I feel you on the pull up thing… That is my ultimate goal to be able to do an unassisted pull up. Seems like I will never be able to haha

I just found this thread after debating whether or not to go to the gym tonight… I guess I better! πŸ™‚

What are your fitness goals (long-term/short-term)?: Short term – 30lbs by May, Long term – 50 lbs total before TTC

What changes are you making to reach your goals (exercise, diet, etc)?: Cutting out pasta/rice/bread. Going to the gym Mon-Fri and switching between 30mins of cardio, and 45mins of weight training.

What’s the hardest part of getting fit for you?: My attitude πŸ™ After working out, my Fiance always asks me, “Don’t you feel good that we went to the gym tonight?” and I always reply with, “No. I’m still fat.” I’m really hard on myself.

Favorite workouts: Lifting weights! I downloaded an app called “Fitness Buddy” and they have pictures/animated gifs of the workouts (so you can be sure you’re doing them right).

Favorite healthy recipe (because we can all use new ideas!):  A lot of times I get ground turkey breast, or ground chicken breast, and season it up certain ways and make patties and serve them with corresponding veggies. (A taco pattie with salsa and guac, an italian-turkey-sausage patty with peppers and onions, and Asian-spiced pattie with lots of bok choy). For lunches I’ve started doing lunch-meat-roll-ups. I put sliced raw bell pepper in the middle and roll up 2 slices of meat around it. And I’ve been making/buying A LOT of hummus and cheese-free-pesto and putting it on everything.

One week into my first attempt at bulking and my weight is DOWN 0.2kg (about 0.5lb). If that continues, I’ll just have to carry on eating more… Oh, the heartbreak!

@SadieBee:  I switch on the central heating and carry on. I love working out at home!

That said, it was a battle to get my arse into it tonight as I was battling a migraine. Still am, but it seems to have been appeased.

Gah, I need this thread something awful.  I used to be the “go to the gym no matter what” girl, I have barely gone since last month! πŸ™

The eating has gotten better but I really don’t know how to kick my own butt when it comes to the working out.  HELP!

Great thread!

What are your fitness goals (long-term/short-term)?:

Short term-17 lbs and a 5k before my wedding (8.5 weeks)

Long term-40 lbs and a half-marathon before my 30th bday (5/2015)

What changes are you making to reach your goals (exercise, diet, etc)?:

Committed to the gym 4x a week and I bought a few fitness Groupon/Living Social deals to take classes at local centers/yoga studios. Doing thewhole30 next month.

What’s the hardest part of getting fit for you?: clean eating πŸ™

Favorite workouts: I love tennis but it’s so cold πŸ™

Favorite healthy recipe (because we can all use new ideas!): whole grain pasta, sauted/shredded chicken, variety of sliced peppers (green, yellow, red, orange) and beef broth. It’s so simple!

@SadieBee:  Ugggggh, that is so frustrating! I don’t have much advice since I workout from home. If I had to go a gym in the cold I think I would give up a lot easier. πŸ˜‰

@mrs_pudding_pop:  Just do it! And remember that we are all here doing it with you. When do you prefer to work out? I always like to do it first thing in the morning. Then it’s done and I don’t have to worry about all of the excuses I try to give myself at the end of the day (I’m tired, it’s late, etc.).

@QuirkySocialite:  Welcome! I agree that clean eating is one of the hardest things for me as well. And good luck with whole30, I wish I had the self-control to stick with something like that!

@Mrs. Coyote:  I prefer working out in the mornings like you, since that way it’s just done and I don’t have to think about how much I’m dreading it later! πŸ˜‰

It’s so much harder in the winter months though, the weather has been brutally cold and I just want to stay in my nice warm bed.  Haha!

Just wanted to report that although I was snowed in all day and missed my regular class at the gym, and wasthisclose to saying eff-it, at 9pm I dragged my lazy butt of the couch and did a quick, yet brutal 30 minutes of HIIT.

Need a hug! Feeling dreadful at the moment but pushing through with scheduled workouts. Even eating for a slight bulk isn’t helping my recovery at the moment, as what I really need is sleep!

Sleep now not a problem but I’ve got food poisoning. ARGH! Five days to my first comp and at the moment I can’t even lift myself!
