I was just reading through some fitness articles this morning and came across one titled “fitness themed wedding”. Of course I HAD to look.. I got married in Dec. 2013, so I can’t do this now lol. But I’m curious to what you ladies think?
Personally I love the fitness theme, but I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to pictures lol. I’m working on getting certified as a personal trainer and in nursing school. So I LOVE anything fitness/nutrition/health related.

I think with any wedding theme, if it takes away from the point of the day then I’m generally not a fan. I like nods to the couple’s interest, but if the bridal party tried to burpee down the aisle I would definitely think that was over the top!

i completely love that they personalized their wedding, but can you imagine how awkward it would be if all of your friends weren’t jacked??

I think if it’s part of your personality then it’s awesome and the people you’d invite would know that it’s…you (as a couple). I believe that weddings should be personalized and think it’s odd that so many of them pretty much look the same. Some weddings I can take pictures from and no one would know which wedding was which.

I think it would be a difficult theme to have and maintain an elegant vibe, but perhaps not impossible.

cupcakebride2013: Me? No. FI? Absolutely. Some of the photo poses and the table numbers are cute! It would be really awkward with our rustic theme as is, who knows!

- Wedding: October 2014 - Disney
To each his own. I had friends who did a light running theme in their wedding they used bibs from races they’d run as table numbers. I thought it was cute since it was something they enjoyed together, but they did not go over the top. I’m a huge runner so I maybe jaded in how I feel on this. I think the wedding should be a reflection of the couple and I feel in this case this theme worked for them.
I however find the shirt the groom is wearing on the bottom insulting. Strength training and muscle building is awesome for some women, but others are endurance related or prefer other activities. Don’t knock what makes another person happy especially if they are doing something good for themselves while doing it. I will never have the build to do fitness modeling, or heavy weight lifting. I was built to swim/bike/run myself into the ground. Those activities should not be portrayed as inferior they are equally impressive.

cupcakebride2013: All I could think of was holy steroids in the shot of the guest in the grey dress
Anyway I think it was cute aside from the actual poses of them flexing. I would hope that they took some normal pictures!

Eh. I kinda think it’s doing the most. I mean, to each their own, but overdoing any theme comes off a little kitschy and cheesy to me. One of my colleagues is a cross-fitter and she took her pre-wedding portraits at the gym, doing pull-ups in her dress and whatnot, which was cute. But the wedding itself I think was pretty normal.

Overjoyed: Actually that is our plan exactly. My Fiance and I both are into CrossFit so we are doing some wedding photos at the Box we workout at. But we will have normal pics taken and we are not having any of our wedding party in the CrossFit pics. Just us. We have a normal theme as well.

i’m obsessed with fitness (i’m a group fitness instructor and have a personal trainer most mornings!). i think this is totally adorable re: table numbers, favour, photobooth… but i cannot stand the pouty face and flexed arms in SO MANY PHOTOS. it’s still a wedding. plus i can’t get over how ill-fitting the groom’s dress shirt is lol. i also love the tshirt and want to get it for my Fiance haha

dewingedpixie: I agree. To each their own in how they decide to exercise. Personally, I do a mixture of HIIT and just started getting into weight lifting. I easily put on muscle (or at least I did 5+ years ago lol) so I’m hoping that will help =) I think every aspect whether it be runing, swiming, a sport, biking, weight lifting, etc is great in its own way.
Boxerlover24: yeah she did have big muscles! lol. I agree, I hope they took some pictures that were outside of their theme. I’m all for flexing, don’t get me wrong. But I’m kinda a more traditionalist when it comes to pictures.
meshort2: That’s awesome! My Darling Husband is not into exercise or anything. I’m kinda lucky to get him to go walking lol. So that was never an option for us. I’d love to see your pictures after =) lol
kristen182: I think what won me over was the table numbers/names…. haha =)
