I am looking into getting some work out dvds. I would like to loose about 15-20lbs by august. Does any brides have any suggestions on what you did to shead the pounds before walking down the isle. I like running and do about 3 miles 1 or 2 a week so I like to work out.

I’ve heard people really like the p90x system. Otherwise I enjoy the Jillian Michaels DVDs because she’ll tend to work big muscles with small muscles so that you’re toning and burning as many calories as possible. If only I could get up the motivation to do them once in a while… that would be fantastic.

I’ve heard good things about the Jillian Michaels DVDs as well, but I find them really boring, myself. The best way to burn fat is a combination of cardio (which you have through the running) and strength training. You may not lose as many pounds, but you will be slimmer and leaner!

I’ve been doing a combo of running and Jackie Warner for weight training. I’ve lost a net of 5 pounds so far since mid-January. But I’ve become incredibly toned. My fave is the Xtreme Timesaver workout. In 30 minutes, she really kicks your butt! I own many other DVDs including Jillian, Insanity, Tae Bo. I also tried Zumba Fitness 2 for Wii for a while. But nothing works for me as well as the above. Of course you also have to eat well to stay well. I’m vegetarian, so the hardest thing for me is getting enough protein. Between lots of eggs, whey protein, nuts, quinoa etc, I’ve slowly started to kick my sugar addiction. Good luck!

I was very successful with a book called the 17 Day Diet when I started losing weight. You could check it out by google-ing it. It takes some strict following but DEFINITELY worth the work! It’ll teach you to be disciplined, but helps you learn how to increase your metabolism and burn fat faster.

I’ve heard great things about Jillian Michael’s DVDs. Also, I personally like Windsor pilates. I bought the express DVD that have 4 10-minute workouts. They’re the only thing I feel like works to gain lean muscle. Good luck!!

I lost 20 lbs since November in prep for the big day. It was surprinslgy simple, all i did was Weight Watchers points plus online and I put in 4 workout’s a week. 2 workouts were cardio for 45 mins to an hour and 2 were muscle building like Physique 57, Core Pilates, Pilates Reformer etc. I dropped about 1-2 lbs a week steadily for months.
*Hint if you do weight watchers, or any weekly weight tracking. Set your weigh in day on Friday. I find its easier to be a little more strict with myself on weekdays and I usually fall apart on weekends. Having my weigh in Friday morning after a week of hard work helps motivate me not to do anything that weekend that would reverse all the hard work I put in Mon-Fri.
I don’t know what your eating habits are like now but mine were terrible so the introduction of veggies and healthy foods really made a difference. Cutting out alchohol and carbs also helps slim me down a bit here and there before parties and photo sessions. But generally I allow both in moderation.
If you’re looking for something to do at home – my cousin recently lost a TON of weight (about 20-30lbs) doing the tracy anderson DVD’s daily.

Thank you so much. I ordered weight watchers about 5 years ago and found myself so hungry all the time. I have the books and I should try that again. I also am very interested in the tracy anderson meta program. It is just so much money and not sure if I can do it. Do you know if she is going to sell the dvds she has and would she mind giving me some feedback on them?

@litljen84: I’m happy to help! I remember how i felt when I wanted to drop weight for the wedding. Ill ask my cousin how much she paid for her DVD’s, although I doubt she wants to sell because she does that every day like it’s her job. Ill find out what her feedback is on them!
Weight watchers online is what worked best for me, I’ve never tried the books. Online was like $60 for 3 or 4 months. I eat like crazy, so being hungry wouldn’t work for me. I found things like grapes and spaghetti squash and just substituted those in for chocolate and pasta and I just let myself have as much as I can humanly eat.
