Five Days to Go & We May Not Have a Cake

Do you have a favourite grocery store cake? Most of the places in my area will do orders with 48 hours notice – we ordered 200 cupcakes at work once and they told us to order two days before. If you get a plain, butter cream iced cake, you could add a few fresh florals from your florist to it really easily. As others have mentioned, there’s quite a few last minute options for cakes so I wouldn’t worry – just don’t procrastinate!

Just to add – if you want to display a small cake for cutting or decoratively set up the cakes/cupcakes, you can get cake stands & plates really cheaply at party supply stores.

somedaymrsj :  We didn’t have cake. We got to the end and I was maxed out and realized I didn’t give a fuck. Our food was amazing otherwise and our cocktails were beautiful and delicious. The only person who (teasingly) complained was my friend and I told her I’d take her out for cake another time.

Costco is an option, but if you are all the way maxed, I promise, a cake isn’t the make or break for a wedding.

Asking your friend to handle it is a great solution! People love to be helpful and it’s nice to be able to give someone a small, concrete task they can easily manage and you don’t have to think about. For me, it was little baskets for the bathrooms – two friends asked if they could help with anything and they had a blast at Target stocking up on little accoutrements (and condoms, haha).

We had a dessert buffet with tons of mini cupcakes, other baked goods, and a small cake for us to cut (no decoration other than simple white frosting). We also had a s’mores bar with fancy chocolates. I like the idea of ordering a simple, pretty, small cake to cut and a larger sheet cake to serve. Will your caterer cut and serve it for you, though? Or the friend who flaked on baking it?

In that case, I’d just say screw it and send a friend/family out to get something for dessert. If there’s no one to spare I wouldn’t even worry about it.

somedaymrsj :  If you go with cupcakes but want the look of a tiered cake you could do a cupcake tier: buy the cupcakes at Costco or a local bakery and buy the tier on Amazon with prime/express shipping. (The below photo was from Pintrest.)

I’m sorry! Your friend isn’t a friend. Unless she has necrotizing fasciitis due to a MRSA/strep infection or she’s been in a horrific accident and lost the use of her arms and legs, there’s no excuse for what she did. But I’ll bet you could get a cake made at costco. Good luck!

We had cake from Nothing Bundt Cake! They do regular cakes for birthdays and things so they should be able to make a 5 day deadline. We had delivery for ours but you can also pick it up! If you have one in your area you should check it out! All 4 of these cakes, delivery, AND setup was only $240!

I would definitely recommend them!

walmart actually makes really good cakes and on short notice. use a fancy one for the cake cutting and pictures

check out their special occassion designs. https://www.walmart.com/ideas/entertaining/cakes-for-any-occasion/43661

then get a sheet cake  to serve to guests. you can get a sheet cake to match the fancy tiered cake.

I’m also team walmart or costco. Any white cake would do, and they always taste amazing.

Nothing Bundt cakes is amazing and there’s plenty of time to get an order in. That or Costco like others have recommended! Good luck
