@rd621521:  I’m not sure where you live or how much money you make, but that seems like it could end up being slightly expensive (really cool idea though). That’s not what you asked though, so:

I’ve never been to Baltimore, but maybe there’s a connection to the city that he has. For instance, I am a HUGE Edgar Allan Poe fan. If my boyfriend were to do an idea like this then he would definitely go with something Poe related. Since you put down baseball for Philly, maybe you could do something with Babe Ruth in Baltimore (I know he wasn’t a player for Philly, but he was from Baltimore and it’s a baseball connection)?

I have been to Boston and Hershey though. For Boston maybe you could get him something from Quincy Market? Or you guys could do the Freedom Trail and stop at the museum they have for some of the old wooden ships in the harbor (they have items in the gift shop like a quill and inkwell and other stuff). For Hershey you could always go to the theme park and get him something from the gift shops (like a frame for a picture, a mug to make hot cocoa, or a key chain).

I’m really no good at ideas. I wanted to plan a trip for our five years dating this past fall, but his work is so busy that all we did was get dinner. We’re going on a little trip this summer instead. πŸ™‚

Whatever you decide to do make sure you guys have fun doing it! Good luck!

Wow!! I think thats amazing and so fun! We have been together for 12 years and other than doing a big trip for our 10th we never celebrated with anything other than a nice dinner and some kind of gift. I LOVE your idea!

@rd621521:  That would explain it then! Lol! Again, I think your ideas sound really sweet and like they’d be a lot of fun. I just saw Phillys though and immediately thought of how expensive major league games can be.

I’m still not sure about gift ideas, especially for the Poconos. If you’re good at working with your hands then maybe you’d be able to carve something for him out of fallen wood. Or maybe you could turn a picture of you guys in the woods into a bookmark, mug, or something like that.

April –      Trip: Phillies Game       Gift: Nice Phillies Shirt

May –      Trip: Baltimore Inner Harbor      Gift: A picture of a raven or football gift or lastly since they just won the superbowl  an “anniversary trophy”.

June –      Trip: Boston/Newport, RI w close friends      Gift: A toy whale (huge whale watching location) or a pair of “red socks”

July –      Trip: Poconos Cabin by lake      Gift: Not sure….ideas?

August –      Trip: Hershey Park Trip       Gift: A huge 5lb hershey chocolate bar — that way you can share it πŸ˜€

I have never been to Poconos Cabin but I think the trip and gift idea is great.  Does he know about the trips already or will the gifts be small and silly but be clues to where you will go.  I think that will help save money and let the gift mainly be the time together on the trip.

Also I am not sure where you are located or how far a drive it would be but one of my favorite places to visit every few years is Cedar Point (largest theme park in Ohio) and they are opening a brand new roller coaster this May πŸ˜€

    I love this idea!

If you go on stub hub you can get tickets to the major league Phillies game for pretty inexpensive (less than $50 for the two of you, we go as many times a year as possible). Of course, if its too long to travel, that might be an issue. And it might be a little more exciting, especially since it isn’t something you normally do.

I like the 5lb bar of chocolate idea, I was going to suggest something along those line.

Honestly, if I went to Boston, one of my top priorities would be to visit Fenway park. When I was really young I was there on a missions trip and we went to a place called Singing Beach, which was beautiful. Also, a lot of people when really excited about eating lobsters.

If we went to Baltimore, we would go to the Aqaurium, so I would give him a gift along those lines.

Honestly, outside of food and shirts, there aren’t many gifts I could think of that would represent the place that my FH would appreciate for very long.

I LOVE Boston – do you like seafood?  There’s a restaurant with the BEST lobster roll in AMERICA.. It’s $25 a roll, if I remember correctly.  But, it’s the BEST EVERRRRRR.  I would get him a gift certificate to that restaurant as the gift lol We’ve also been to

Fenway park which is really cool – maybe a baseball cap?

    I’d say chocolate for Hershey’s.

Are you planning to give him all the gifts in advance?  Can I suggest something?

I would try to find something related to where your trip is and put it in a box and let him either guess where he’s going or make it a surprise – like, I would wrap up the Phillies shirt and write the date of the game, but not tell him what it is.  For Hershey’s park, I would get a big bar of chocolate, write the date when we’re going and give it to him, etc.

@rd621521:  I’m planning on doing something similar (but on a smaller scale) for our anniversary! I don’t know the area, so I can’t suggest anything specific, but I would maybe do a gift certificate to a restaurant for one of the trips and maybe a bottle of wine for the other.

Cabin – what about a small cribbage board or a book?  Deck of cards (you could get custom ones with your photo, if you really want to personalize it).

Sounds like a fun gift concept πŸ™‚
