I am looking to make similar alterations to my dress!!! the seamstress @ Davids Bridal said the lowering of the back to a V would not be possible because there is no boning in the top and would not keep my dress up.

the front neckline and back are awfully high for my dress and it makes my backfat and armpit fat oooze out like crazy. even if i lost 10lbs I think it would still be there.

I am in search of an amazing seamstress now for an amazing alteration similar to the OP.

Following this post for encouragment! 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing this!  Has anyone had this done at David’s Bridal? Also what kind of undergarments do you wear with this cut?  Thank you!

@Christi thank you so much for this amazing post/advice. It seriously saved my wedding day! Luckily I’d seen this post before trying on my dress at my first fitting so I knew exactly what to ask for. I’m posting these (slightly embarrassing) pics so other bees can see the AMAZING difference. These two pics were taken in the same dress only a week apart. I asked the seamstress to lower the corset back into a V.  Pic on the left is before, pic on the right is after. I was astounded at the change. PS I’m not wearming any undergarments in either the before or after pic. Thanks again Christi! You’re a lifesaver!!

What do you do if you have a button/zip up dress and not a corset style?

@distressddamsel:  it depends on the structure of the dress ultimately but smaller zippers can be put in and buttons can be cut down. You also may have the option of adding a corset if you choose. You’d have to talk to an experienced seamstress to know for sure.

I love this. Is there a reason this isn’t pinned anymore as a sticky? I think every bride to be should see this 🙂

MsquareM:  it was stickied under dress but stickies are not working right now but tech is working on it. Once it’s fixed I will make sure it gets stickied again, it’s one of my favorite posts ever on  WB.

This seemed to be a very common problem in the dresses I tried on.. THANK YOU for this! I will have to remember to ask in the future!!!
