I had my makeup trial last week and everything looked great except my eyes turned really red about halfway through! I don’t think it was an allergic reaction, but instead from perhaps glittery product migrating into my eyes. I also wear contacts, so I don’t know if that made a difference. I tried Visine but it didn’t make much of a difference. I’m really concerned that this will happen on my wedding day. Did this happen to anyone else and does anyone have suggestions for either how to prevent this or alternatively deal with it if it does happen?

Do you usually wear eye makeup? If you do and you know which brands work for you stick with those for your wedding day. If you don’t have trust brands then go with talc free mineral makeup, talc is terrible.

How long did your eyes stay red for with the make up on? How long did they stay red after removing the make up? Were they sore (such as when you gently put pressure on it) or was there any swelling as well?
That might help determine if it was an allergic reaction to something, or just the glitter getting into your eyes and being an irritant.
I found out as I was allergic to my eyeliner when it caused my eyes to get red, sore, and puffy for about 2 days after it was removed. (I stupidly did not throw it out, and then the same thing happened six months later, confirming my suspicions).
If the redness was only brief, I would think they were irritated.
Here are some tips I got from google. Perhaps they will help?
I agree that I would see if you could just use make up that you use daily, in the case it is because of an allergy. Or a less, large particle eye shadow?

cherryfox22 : Thank you, that’s so helpful! My eyes stayed a little red until the next day, but my eyes weren’t really puffy or sore. They were just very red around my irises. I have another makeup trial next month and am totally going to try antihistamine drops like the article suggested.
