I posted before about my center diamond suddenly having a large black line through it. When we took it in, the jeweler said it was simply a magnified inclusion that was unfortunately placed. The option was given to me of replacing it…I didn’t take it – I felt that if it only appeared every couple months, that’s just a dirty ring and getting it cleaned every couple months professionally? That’s fine. However, having it back for a week and already being able to see the inclusion? Oofta.
So after feeling horrible though my Fiance told me that 1) it’s not a big deal to get it replaced, 2) if he would have known the inclusion was there he wouldn’t have picked that diamond and 3) that I shouldn’t just ‘settle’ or ‘deal with it’ as per my original plan – my center stone has been replaced! I am a little sad still, because it’s not the original diamond he got me, but Fiance stated as soon as he saw the new diamond that he would have picked that one hands down if he had been given the choice.
The new diamond is a bit bigger – from a 0.65 to a 0.82. I got a little picture happy…
It throws off SO much more radiance than the old one! It is still the same clarity, but all inclusions in this one are small dots, rather than the large line.
It also turns out that we were supposed to get a free at-home jewelery cleaner kit when the rings were originally purchased….but now we have the kit, my diamond is no longer strangely ‘scarred’ looking, and my Fiance picked out and purchased his band! 🙂
