Anyone with fixer upper houses? I’d love to see some before & after pictures!
Here are ours. The story behind our house is that it was owned by an elderly family member. The last few months he lived there the house turned into a mess since he had dementia. He decided that the house was clearly too much for him and moved to an assisted living about 5 minutes away. He lived there happily for a couple years. During that time, we left the house vacant. Once we went to go clean it up, it seemed like a big job. But it really wasn’t.
Living room “before”. Although we obviously started tearing up the carpet at this point.
And here’s it with our furniture in it at Christmas
Kitchen cabinets getting sanded (I did ALL that myself!) and then getting primed (yes I did all that too!)
After the new counter & sink went in. (That sink is one of the $500 kohler ones.. I paid only $40 at a salvage place for a like new sink)
Kitchen finished! Although now we have an island in the center of the kitchen. We got all new appliances as well. The old ones were actually fine… but I didn’t like the white.
Spare room before:
After! Don’t have any pictures with furniture in it though. Darling Husband uses it as his Men’s Den, haha. His desk & big TV are in there.
Master bedroom before:
I don’t have any before pictures of the other rooms.. but total it cost us $14,000 to fix up the house. Our biggest expenses were the hardwood floors ($7000) but we installed them ourselves, the new appliances ($2000), and the dumpster ($500). Everything else was mainly paint (lots of paint), new counters in the kitchen & bathroom. New sinks in kitchen in bathroom cost us only $60 total from a salvage place. A lot of the little things added up (new lights in almost every room, new outlets & light switches since the other ones were yellowed).
