fromatoz :  Sarasota is probably farther south that you are willing to go…plus, it is not a cheap area. Those venues will run you a pretty penny. Be careful.

fromatoz :  Yeah. I definitely can understand that. Also, Sarasota is not easy to fly into any more. Many airlines have pulled out and it is a ghost town in there. I moved from Sarasota a year ago. That’s how I know all of this.

I think there’s an important distinction between “easy to fly into” and “you get your choice of every possible airline”. I personally think it’s much easier to fly in and out of a tiny airport, even if your airline choices are limited to American, United, Delta, JetBlue, Air Canada, and WestJet.

I got married in St. Augustine this year, eloping on a sailboat, but before that decision was made, I was looking at many of the B&Bs in St. Augustine that offer small wedding packages (which may be helpful when you’re planning from afar – they include officiant, decorations, small cake cutting, champagne toast, bouquets, accommodationsetc. These were a couple of my favorites:

casadesolana.com – in the historic district, they offer a courtyard with gazebo, no water views, although not far from the water.

bayfrontmarinhouse.com – in the historic district, across the street from the water so you can get some view, with a gazebo. They also offer beach weddings, at another place they own, but you can find all that information on this site.

I also looked at restaurants, for the wedding dinner, like you want to have and Michael’s Tasting Room has a private room http://www.tastetapas.com/

St. Augustine is lovely and there’s quite a bit to do for guests. It can be touristy but very romantic.
