Do you think it makes a difference if I wear flats or heels with my dress? I’m 5’6 already so that is fairly tall and I really want my train to be at its longest potential (it is a chapel train and is obviously shorter when I have heels on). I think flats are the way to go for comfort and for the train length I want. Does it really matter? No one sees except for in pictures right?

Hmm…this should probably go on the shoes board!

I think you should wear whatever you’re comfortable with. I’m 5’4, so not tall but not terribly short either, and I just feel more ‘together’ when I’m in heels. I would feel weird wearing flats with my wedding dress, because I associate flats with casual outfits. I’m almost always in heels otherwise. I find that heels do wonders for my posture, the way I stand, the way I carry myself and walk. But, on the other hand, I have lots of girlfriends who are tall and are much more accustomed to wearing flats, even when we’re going out and dressed up.

@NEbride2Be: I think you should wear what you’re most comfortable in. If having a longer train is important to you, that’s definitely a consideration as well.
I’m really short (only 5’1″) and I hate wearing heels. I would be so uncomfortable in them (and would probably be walking really awkwardly all evening), so I’ll be wearing flats. I haven’t decided on a pair of shoes yet, but I know they definitely won’t be heels!

I say flats! If you’re not worried about being “tall” and you think it’s the best choice for your dress, be comfy!!
I’m 5’2″ and I’m wearing flats because I want to be comfortable all day. Luckily, my fiance’s not too tall.
Also, for the esthetics, you can find some really cute flats!!

It doesnt matter. Wear what you like and feel comfortable in.

I think flats are the better choice in this case since you want to focus on your comfort level and to get the most length from your train.

Definitely whatever you are comfortable in!
I am wearing flats under my dress. I don’t associate flats with being too casual at all. I always wear heels to work..but when I’m with Fiance, I always wear flats. I’m 5’6″ and Fiance is only 5’9″. It makes me feel weird to be taller than him, which he thinks is silly!

@NEbride2Be: I think you should wear whatever is most comfortable. If you’re wearing heels for hours on end, you’re feet are probably going to be hurting but if you take your heels off, your dress will be much to long and drag around and get dirty. That’s why I like the idea of just wearing flats to begin with.

I’d go with heels… but just a teeny tiny heel! The reason being they tip you forward & make you walk more elegantly rather than flat footed (or so says my Future Mother-In-Law but I believe her on this one!). I am only 5’2″ but can’t stand heels because of knee/ankle/feet problems so I’ve decided to go with 1.5″ kitten heels from Shoes of Prey 🙂 (you can also pick a tiny wedge).
This is what I’m planning to order…
