The Newberry library is really flexible on bringing in your own food and alcohol.  They also provide the tables and chairs.  It’s also a GORGEOUS venue (was one of our top choices).  The rental fee is 6k, from when I last checked late last year.

Try Moe’s Cantina. They are a mexican resturant that has a pretty decently sized space at their River North location. They also have a really flexable menu and since it’s typically a bar that means they have a sound system with (most likely) an ipod dock.

My future husband tried to get me to agree to have our reception there until I reminded him that my side of the family is boring and would not like any spicy mexican foods.

You could try the DANK Haus. It’s in Lincoln Square, right off the brown line, they have a free dance floor and iPod hook up.  They allow any caterer, it’s BYOB(!!!), party goes til midnight, tables and chairs are all set but no linen, and the largest space is only $4K.  Not sure about a smaller space that you might be able to get away with since you only have 100 or so guests and the large room houses 400! 🙂  Good luck!
