Your only other option would be to try and go through a travel agent to see if they have access to any wholesale tickets. We did this for our recent Europe trip and while we didn’t save a TON of money, we did save a couple hundred overall so it was worth it.

You could also try flying into London Heathrow then flying out to Italy from there. The biggest expense is getting over the “Great Pond”. We usually fly out of London to Madrid, Paris, Rome via an intercontinenal flights. Try looking on Ryanair, Vueling, and EasyJet. I once found a $69 fare to Rome from London!
