@Miss Wallaroo: I’ve never met you before on here, but I LOVE YOU! We were planning to film the toasts and some fun clips of the reception on a Flip instead of hiring a superpricey videographer, and thanks to you, instead of spending the budgeted $175, I just picked up the MinoHD for $50!!!! (which now means an extra $125 in the shoe budget! ) thank you so so much!!

@ThePinkPeony: you’re very welcome!! 🙂 glad i could help (esp. with extending a shoe budget yay!)! i was so excited to buy these at such an awesome deal that right after we bought them, i told Fiance i had to go home and post it on the bee lol he replied with a “ok. go and save the world one wedding dress at a time” lol <3 him
@USER876: i was making a joke about editing it to zoom post-production 🙂 …anyone that would actually crop it to try to zoom has way too much time on their hands imo. also, i use the word ‘rasterize’ because i’m a Biologist and worked with ArcGIS in grad school. creature of habit i suppose. tomato tomatoe whatever. 😉

I love my FLIP. I have the Ultra HD one. I have a tripod and use it for my Youtube videos. I really like the crisp picture quality and the audio isn’t bad. When I’m outdoors it’s even better!

Being a gadget freak, I went to see what they had left and bought the last 2. I had a first generation model. I got the ultra and the mino HD. I will probably keep the mino and give the ultra away as a gift. Although the ultra has more features and is an improved model, it’s just so bulky and toy looking. The mino is sleek and fits in your pocket, and the packaging is really cool, like an iphone. I will use it for youtube videos only and candid moments out and about so it will suit my needs fine when needed. Thanks for the coupon!

@USER876: NP! 🙂 I got the Ultra HD and Mino HD as well – but we’re going to keep both. (i worried if the lithium battery stops holding a charge I won’t be able to replace it since Flip is discontinued. I have had bad luck with my cell phones and they have stopped holding a charge after about 1 year)
There also isn’t a waterproof case for the Mino that will go beyond 5-15ft, and the Ultra has a case for 30ft. When we scuba on our honeymoon, we’ll want to use it so the Ultra works better for that purpose.
The Mino is so much more compact, which I love, and it shoots in 60fps – Ultra is only 30 fps. You can’t tell a difference though unless you’re filming something fast moving, like a sporting event.

@Miss Wallaroo: Yeah I am not a fan of internal batteries either, but I have so many gadgets, this won’t get much use. By the time the battery dies, i will be well onto my next toy.
Good point about the waterproof case if that is important to you. I don’t know why they didn’t just make one final one with the ultra features and the mino footprint so there wouldn’t be tradeoffs. Add image stabilization and a short zoom, and it would of been a winner. Seems like a no brainer.
