I’ve been lurking, but finally joined to ask for help. My bf and I have been discussing rings, and went to a local jewler to get sized and try different styles. I’m an engineer, and honestly never really thought about engagement rings. I work with my hands a need something that can withstand gloves and a bit of rough treatment. The store salesmen freaked me out. I asked for dainty round rings for my size 3.75-4 finger (yes, I know, I get a lot of grief about my size at work), and I was shown 2+ carat double halos and ginormous square Tammy Faye rings that hurt when I bent my finger 🙁
My bf has a perfect heirloom diamond just over a carat with a beautiful background story. He suggested a “space theme” which I loved. We’re really into the shared/single/floating prong setting because they look like orbits. I’m not good at the terminology. I saw beautiful bands from bees here:

(Sorry if I didn’t post it right). Having the hardest time finding these types of rings in real life. Help!

Seems like that salesperson wasn’t listening to you and had an agenda to make you fall in love with something that they could make a better commission on. I’d shop around and have fun trying on rings elsewhere, and try a few different places. But you might have to work one on one with a jeweler to get something custom made. If they have something similar I’m sure they would be able to do custom work on that ring if they do that sort of thing there. I know many bees and my cousin got get wedding band made custom and they did it in house, so I know this can be done.
I worked with my hands too and I actually didnt wear my e ring at work. I barely wear it in the house too because im usually cleaning and cooking etc. I really only wear it when I go out. I take it off when I get in the house because I’m paranoid even about carrying a lot of bags in from the car or anything that it could get caught on things and banged around.
Online is a really good place to find exactly what youre looking for but then you cant try it on in person. I have a moissy from moissaniteco.com and I know they allow you to return it if its not what you want as long as the tag is still on. So maybe you can find one already made like in the links you provided that would be returnable if it didnt work on your hand. I’m pretty sure theres a band like the one in your link on moissaniteco.com that i’ve seen so I guess its out there. Sorry if im not being helpful but I wanted to post something since I saw your thread was blank so far!

If you are hard on your hands I would look at a bezel setting. It does look spacy and they can take a huge beating. I think a bezel would look awesome with those bands too

I agree with @Gelamac, the bezel would be beautiful and the bands would go great. I love them both.

@tpol: You should probably look into having a ring custom made.
I know Blue Nile also carries that floating style.

Thank you all SO much for your comments!!!
I thought I wanted a bezel, but didn’t really like the ones I tried on. I always pick plain and practical styles to blend in with my predominantly male coworkers, but it would be nice to have something pretty and girly for once. I payed attention to rings at work this week, and almost everyone removes theirs (even plain bands). When we work with lasers, we’re required to take off all jewelry anyway, no exceptions. So I’ll have to be more like @nl and only wear it when I go out or maybe at home.
My bf is having trouble finding the floating style online in my size, with six prongs, that isn’t an eternity style and is sold without a center stone. How do you find a custom jeweler? Do chain stores do custom orders? What kind of price range should I expect? Any advice would be appreciated! And if anyone has similar styles please post photos to help tide me over. Waiting is so hard!

I’m sure he could e-mail them or put in a special request to make this into 6 prongs. That’s a very easy customization.
