I like the first idea better than the second. They look fairly simple to do. The best advice I can give you though is to be very specific in your delegating. As in assign one particular bm or friend to be in charge of centerpieces (even if other people help). For my wedding I (like every bride) had a bunch of last minute things to get done. Some which didn’t happen not because of time but because I didn’t delegate properly.

I love your idea of using the floralytes with orchids…. much better than the oranges. I do believe that oranges, although easier to pull off, are too casual for what you are aiming to do. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with gel… but LOVE your idea. It seems practical that this could be done a day or so in advance. Perhaps you could just contact a florist and ask? The biggest thing would be how well the orchids would perserve.

@Kspot: what kind of flowers did you use? I’m doing something similiar but I cant seem to find that turqoise, purple, blue orchid flower anywhere.

How about a floating candle on top of the submurged orchid?  We had several different arrangements on our tables in groups and all around other areas, we had the submurged orchid with the floating candle on top.  Looked great!  I’m not a floralyte fan.

Fwiw, we used dendrobium orchids and they looked stunning!  They are such resilient flowers, that they stayed looking fabulous for over a week after the wedding too!

This is exactly what I am looking to make!  Please please tell me what you did, they are stunningly beautiful!!

Any information would help me so much as I am trying to do as much as I can myself, but am extremely challenged when it comes to DIY stuff.

Thanks!

@Kspot:I would love to make the same centerpiece. I was worried when I saw florists are selling them at $100.00 a piece. How much did it cost to make it yourself? Someone was telling me orchids are a very expensive flower…
