I am trying to plan a beach getaway for my Darling Husband and I as a late anniversary celebration. I am still contemplating Cancun but I am thinking Florida might be a little easier overall.
We went to Orlando (WDW) for our honeymoon any suggestions on fabulous beach destinations and resorts also in Florida? We are looking for moderate to luxurious, not super budget conscientious. Doesn’t need to be adult only.
In am looking for a place with a great beach, pool, gorgeous blue water, delicious food and nice rooms. Any suggestions?

A friend of mine goes to Siesta Key once a year with her family because she loves it there so much. If you wanna check out the Keys, Bahia Honda on Big Pine Key is nice, too. Disclosure: I’m not from Florida but have spent some time there.
ETA: Oops, I missed that you were looking for a pool, so Bahia Honda may not be a great choice. I LOVE Key West and the B&Bs there, but they’re generally not right on the sand. There are a couple of hotels there with beachfront.

@ThreeMeers: What didn’t you like about Miami? Wondering if we might feel the same way. 🙁
@HisMoon: I was looking at the Keys as well. Wasn’t sure if it would be better to choose multiple locations and drive the Keys or stay in one place.
Anyone know how long it really takes to go from one end to the other? I am imagining several hours.

@Treejewel19: It takes approximately 3hrs to get from Miami to Key West. I’ve made that drive a few times, and to me it goes by quickly. I like the scenery.

I’m not from Florida, but we went to Clearwater Beach this winter, and it was amazing! Perfect white sand beach, dolphins playing in the waves, etc. we got a house a mile or so away from the town, and it worked really well. The beach was so much less crowded, and we were still in walking distance of downtown. We mostly stayed in (there were three couples, and we grilled, swam in the private pool and drank a lot of mimosas!) but there were a lot of resturants and night life.
ETA: Clearwater beach is in the gulf coast, by Tampa.

St. Pete Beach/Clearwater is fantastic. Siesta Key is fabulous as well.
