Sanibel and Captiva Islands are beautiful for beaches! Anna Maria is as well, but there is not too much of a town. And of course, you have the Florida Keys, which offer you different towns, feelings, and absolute gorgous views and water.

We’re spending 10 days in Panama City Beach.  We wanted relaxing rather then doing too.  We decided on PCB because some friends of ours are letting us borrow their condo.

I personally love Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama.  There’s lots to do, and the beaches are gorgeous.  I’m a bit prejudiced because I grew up there.

I would say…. Sanibel and Captiva island, those are very relaxing islands, however keep in mind that there is nothing to do at night. No night life whatever. The Keys are great, there’s lots to do. I would say stay towards south florida because the further North you go, the colder the beaches are. Once you get to Daytona… forget about going in the water, even in the summer, the waters are freezing. (I was born in the Caribbean and raised in Miami… I only like warm waters though). Good luck!

Not sure where to go, but I would advise NOT to go near the larger cities (Orlando, Miami, etc.) Prices would be just as high as a place like Hawaii and there are WAY too many people to relax like you want! My mother went on a cruise through the Florida Keys & hear its amazing! Lots of cute little towns through that area. But honestly, not much beats Hawaii… It can be inexpensive during the off season & not as hot/muggy as Florida. But then again, I’m from CA, so I’m pretty picky about my weather!!

Florida has a lot of nice beaches, but I agree to stay away from "tourist traps" such as Orlando. It would definitely be worth while to check out Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Good lluck 🙂

I second crabcake.

Alabama and the Florida Panhandle’s beaches are some of the best-kept secrets.  And a LOT cheaper than further south.

Have you looked into the Destin/FT.Walton area?  its called the Emerald Coast area .

Heres a link to a site that could probably tell you a little more about what they have to offer.

Seaside Beach, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Watersound– All in the same stretch between Destin and Panama City. Beautiful, and not so “flash the world for beads” as PCB or Destin tend to be. Maybe I’m a prude or biased, because we have a house in Seaside. :p
