Howdy bees. Got a question here regarding florist mockups.
Getting close to picking a florist, but one thing that concerned my mom and I (mom is helping pay for flowers) is that her mockup fee isn’t included towards our final quote if we go with her as florist. We were told we’d be paying the retail fee of the flowers instead.
Other florists I’ve met with have mentioned mockups and most did say they had a fee, BUT we were told the fee technically goes into the money we’d be paying them for the overall service. So if we paid $150 right now for a mockup, it goes towards the overall payment for them.
The florist we like seems to be more of an event florist, she doesn’t have a public-facing shop or store to sell flowers.. she does weddings, events, etc. She also def has been the costlier and nicer of florists we met with.
Is it normal for a florist to ask you to pay for the mockup outside of your full payment for their service? I understand them asking for some fee, but am nervous that this “retail fee” will be high up due to how nice of a florist she is… and it’d be nice if it went towards the full quote.
Has anyone else dealt with this and been able to sway a florist let the mockup fee go towards the overall quote?
And maybe I’m panicking early… not sure how much the retail fee is and will ask. But centerpieces alone have been in the hundreds so I wasn’t sure what we could expect. =/
P.S. Spoken with mom about going with less expensive florist, but this is her one big thing she wants to help with and she seems fine with it. I guess I’m trying to look out for her and me, making sure we’re not paying for something that couldn’t just go towards our full payment or what.
