We just got my daughter’s quote from the florist. Once I got over the shock, I took the total cost and divided up with the people receiving flowers. Attendents, lots of sets of parents, and grandparents. Price came out to about $22 per person. Using this figure makes it sound a little more doable! What is your average cost using a florist?
(We are doing our own centerpieces using lots of candles and bulk flowers from Costco. These were not figured into the florist cost.)

emnk: the price sounds good for the bride and BMs but very high for the fellas. They usually have a single bloom.
You’ll have better luck getting an idea if you look at the average costs per kind of item (bouquet, cosage, bout) than per person.

nocleverbeepun: Ouch! You are so right. Didn’t take that into consideration. Guys bouts are $8 each.

Flowers are really expensive. We got a great deal (for our area) through an amazing florist who works out of her home…so she doesn’t have the costs associated with brick and mortar stores. We paid $10 for bouts, $30 for corsages, $50 for bridesmaid boquets and a whopping $160 for my bouquet.

My bouquet: 150
Bridesmaids: 4 at $40
Bouts: 9 at $12
Corsages: 4 at $22
And then there are all the centerpieces and greenery around our cake and the head table. All together ours is a little more than $1500 just in flowers. I was shocked by this too but then I looked at what we’re getting. We’re having red, white, and black baccarra roses. A lot of the cost depends on what flowers you are using. We originally had dahlias in addition to the roses and by deleting them, we cut $500 from our quote.

I am DIYing it. Materials cost about $20. Making 4 bouquets and 17 boutineers.

- Wedding: May 2013 - Pavilion overlooking golf course scenery, reception at banquet hall
My BIL’s wife DIYed ours, for $188 with flowers and materials from Costco. There were:
1 bride bouquet
4 Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets
1 toss bouquet
2 small baskets of petals (for flower girls)
So I guess that’s 20 people, averaging to $9.40 per person, hah. And they looked flawless and perfectly what I wanted, I do not regret DIY instead of a professional florist at all!!

I think that’ pretty low, actually. Bouquets for the bride and her attendants and corsages for the ladies add up fast.

I booked my florist at $2,800 (I’ve had quotes as high as $8,000 for the same flowers!)
Bridal Bouquet – $200
Bridesmaids Bouquet – $45 each (6 maids)
Bouts – $14 each (6 groomsmen, and one for my father and FI’s father)
Mothers’ corsages – $25 (2)
Flower girl crown – $32
Ring bearer and toss bouquets are free of charge – woohoo!
Centerpieces (18 custom beauties on my hand-maid glass dessert stands) $120 each
Head table decorations – $91
I’m thrilled with my decision to go with this florist!

That sounds like a good deal to me. We are paying $7K total for all of our flowers (bride/BM/Groom/GM/Flower girls/parents/centerpieces/etc). But here is our breakdown per person receiving flowers:
5 Bridesmaids: $80/person
2 Flower girls (petals): $35/person
9 Boutonnieres: $17.50/person
Flower for my dog’s collar: $12
2 Corsages: $32.50/person
Total = $879.50 (if i did my math right!)
