- Wedding: September 2011
I am really not up to a full recap, but I did want to talk about my ADORABLE flower girl and ring bearer. I am a little biased, they are my kids.. and to possibly write this for those REALLY worried about all the details about little kids in weddings.
Now, I prepared especially for my high strung daughter. She is ADHD (actually, not just hyper) and 3 yrs old.
The rehearsal went great! We walked her a few times, and pulled her in the wagon a few times, so she could have a feel for it. She likes options so we made sure to keep the peace by letting her to either.
My daughter looked adorable when I got there…. even though she was bawling to go home. I tried to talk her into getting in the wagon with her brother to go down the aisle, and it was a NO go. As everyone is walking she is clinging to me telling me to take her home. I even tried to get her to come with me and my dad. Finally I gave up, told her I am the only one that HAS to go down the aisle, and if she wants to go find “hamma” (grandma) she should have a cookie surprise. Nope… nothing. Finally the babysitter picked her up as my que to walk started, and walked her around all the people for a break outside. I saw her through out the ceremony, a few wimpers, and switching grandmas laps, but not yelling or screaming, but no smiles.
My son (almost 2) went down in the wagon, chilled out pose, throwing the flowers out because they were there, after he went to my SILs boyfriend (his buddy) and just hung out the whole time.
After the ceremony we took a FEW pictures as a family, both kids, and actually my Son got bored and headed off with a Groomsmen he decided was his escort. (hes very opinionated about people) and my daughter started taking over the shoot!! SHe talked to the photog, the photog let her look at her camera and see the pictures, and we got some adorable pictures out of it. She is a little ham when it comes to cameras and I was glad to have a calm time with her before the craziness.
After the pictures the babysitter gathered both kids and fed them first in a quiet corner, and eventually they were off to a play area out back. My daughter was in her flower dress all of 1 hour, and now in jeans and t-shirt in a sand box. My son decided to go back and forth from the pay area to the Groomsmen, SILs SO, grandparents, and me. Still in his tux until the heat hit, then he was a PARTY ANIMAL in a diaper. He refused any clothes, and is stealthy and getting naked. It was adorable.
Even though EVERYTHING went wrong as far as kids are concerned, it was memorable, and adorable. Everyone is still talking about the “cute sassy kids” I have!
(Going to delete these later today… not a big fan of kid pics, but this one time I couldnt resist)
(of course she also claimed my veil, and eventually my bouquet)
(His usual pose… chilled and relaxed.. lol)
