Does anyone know what the etiquette is for the flower girl dress? Do I just tell them “white” or “ivory” and let the mother and little girl pick their own? I was thinking I would look around and see what I like, then have a shopping day with them? I don’t want them to have to spend a ton on the dress, especially since she’ll outgrow it in 3 months! Or, am I supposed to pay for it? ACK I’m such a newbie! Thanks for any help! 🙂

I think typically the parents of the Flower Girl pay for the dress. (It would be nice of you to pay, but not necessary.) It’s up to you whether you specify the exact dress or let them choose.
I just showed my SIL pictures of my dress and the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, and let her pick something that would go well. But I trust her taste and my wedding was a casual beach wedding.
If you can go shopping together, that would probably be a fun and memorable occasion for the Flower Girl if she’s not too young!

I found my girls dresses on http://www.pinkmarie.com They are super affordable and very cute! I was afraid once they were ordered they may look cheesy and cheap- but they didn’t! They are absolutely adorable! I would recommend to everyone!

I think a lot of people find the dress and tell the parents to buy it. I didn’t feel comfortable doing that b/c I felt like if the mom’s buying the dress, she sould like it. Plus, I wasn’t that picky. They live Out of Town so when they were visiting for a weekend we went online and picked the dress together. I think it would be a lot of fun to go shopping together!

If my FGs had been local, I definitely would have taken them out for a shopping/lunch day. They would have loved it. Unfortunately they all lived far away. I paid for them, but I bought them at Burlington Coat Factory for $25 each so it wasn’t that big of an expense.
If you are very flexible with how they look, you could just tell the mom to pick it out. However, if you care at all or color is a concern, I would pick it or give really specific instruction.
