Yes, I thought about this.

My niece totally looks up to me and copies everything I do, so I thought this would be super cute.

However, in discussing some of my wedding plans with my Future Sister-In-Law [my brothers fiance, and mother of my niece], she had mentioned she wanted to do this.

I’m no longer doing this since her mother wants to do it.. I don’t want to rain on her mothers parade, even though they don’t have a date set, or money to have the wedding. I feel it’s something the mother should be entitled to.

I think it would be cute. I actually saw a lot of similar or matching flower girl and bride dresses on display in various bridal shops I visited. I think your style of dress lends itself nicely to a flower girl version. Post pics!

@LuckyInMyLife:  Mine aren’t mini brides, but they have a main part being the same. πŸ™‚

@LuckyInMyLife:  I think the dress should be complementary. my dress has a simple bodice and ruffled skirt. My FGs dress has a simple bodice and a detailed skirt. I like the similarity in style. Also well both be wearing glitter shoes

I think it’s really cute. I mean it’s not the same dress – it’s just tying the dress in, really so that they compliment each other.

I had my flower girl’s outfit complement mine, for instance, my dress skirt had wide box pleats…so I had her dress pleated too, only more, narrow pleats. I used lace on the edge of my veil and to wrap around my flowers and the sleeves of her dress were trimmed with lace.

Also, I had our shoes match. Like you I did think for a minute with the shoes: hang on, is this too similar. But I went with it and I loved it, and so did she.

Here is a pic to prove the cuteness!:

@LuckyInMyLife:  I’m wearing the CT291 Oleg Cassini too! πŸ˜€ And I’m going with a flowergirl dress from DB that looks very similar with the pick-ups too. Like @jenilynevette:, my 6yo cousin looks up to me and she thinks its the coolest thing in the world to have the same dress as her big cousin πŸ™‚

I was a flower girl in the early 90’s and wore a big white dress like the bride lol. It was a ton of fun, I don’t see a lot of those these days but as long as it’s executed in a way that appropriate for a child it should be fine. So a dress that has similar elements as yours, but perhaps without the sweetheart neckline.
