I don’t have anyone close to me with any young children. Therefore, we are not having a ring bearer, my fiance’s bestman will just hold the rings. I do have a friend who is also a co-woker that is invited to my wedding who has a daughter that is 11 years old of which I’ve known since she’s born. She is a young ballet dancer and I thought it might be nice and a little different for her to be my flower girl and somewhat dance in ballet steps down the aisle and throw around flower petals. I would pick out a lovely little dress to compliment her, my wedding colors and be somewhat ballet style with a tulle skirt.
What do you ladies think about this idea?

That could be really lovely, if the young lady in question would like to do so. 11 is a hard age; some girls feel too old to be a flower girl and would find it embarassing.

Maybe call her by another name – Jr. Bridesmaid?

have you asked her yet? Thinking back to me being 11, I’m not sure if I’d want to, but if I were a badass ballerina with a talent I wanted to show off then maybe.
We’re not having a ring bearer either but we have a 5 year old niece who will be a flower girl. But if it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have a one in our wedding party.

She actually goes to a specialized dance school in NYC and she just received her pointe shoes.
I haven’t asked her or mentioned it my friend as of yet. I think the young girl would like to do it, but am not 100% sure. She does love to show off her dance skills, lol
I thought of giving he a different “title” but I’m not fond of “Jr. Bridesmaid”
Thanks for the feedback Bees 🙂

Maybe “Flower Maid” or simply “Bridal Attendant”?

I think 11 is probably too old to be a flower girl. Most flower girls are pretty young. How old will she be for the wedding? 12? That puts her in 6/7th grade. I’m just having a hard time picturing a middle schooler wanting to dance down your aisle. But she may feel uncomfortable saying no.
It doesn’t hurt to ask her mom though!

This sounds awesome, and if she wants to do it, you should go for it. My cousin had adult flower girls in her wedding and called them flower ladies or something, and even that was actually cool. Maybe just call her a Flower Attendent or Flower Dancer? Or just Ballerina? Honestly though, I don’t think 11 is too old to be a Flower Girl, unless the girl herself is not comfortable with it. And people will not be thinking its lame if she is impressing them with cool ballet moves.

I think it’s a lovely idea. Obviously run it past her mum and see whet she thinks but if she likes showing off her dancing it sounds like a good chance for her to do so.
