- Wedding: October 2013
Hi Bees! I need an opinion. I decided to do dried/faux flowers to save some money (arrange them myself). Also to save money, centerpieces are candles and pumpkins (yay October wedding!). Candles in decorated mason jars, pumpkins just plain. I saw a beautiful swag (picture below, if all goes as planned) and thought it could be really cool if the flower girls carried this down the aisle and passed it off to two groomsmen (both over 6′ tall) to put on an arch. BTW, we have 4 flower girls, all over 4 years old. The arch I have is brown wire (definitely needs spruced up) that’s 8′ tall.
1. What if placing the sway on the arch doesn’t go smoothly and we need to just leave it up there prior to the ceremony? Then the girls are left with nothing to carry down the aisle.
2. What should the girls hold during the photos?
I don’t like baskets of flowers or petals. I do love these flower wands with ribbons and poofs (picture below). But, can they be worked into the aesthetic (my DIYd bouquets below)? Are the girls going to be too tempted to wave and swing and maybe accidentally over do it and hit guests? Should I suck it up and do baskets? Or mini bouquets? Help!!
So here’s the swag. On a much fancier more expensive arch than mine.
Flower girl wands, although mine would be purple/fall colors, maybe some silver
My flowers on the right. Bridesmaids on the left. They are actually somewhat yellow/purple/green and less brown in real life.
