so, i have 2 younger half brothers (will be 8 and 9 at time of wedding) and 1 younger half sister (will be 8 at time of wedding). i am having my half sis be the Flower Girl and my 2 half bros be the ring bearers. first of all, do you think they’re too old? i wanted them to be included in the wedding and always wanted their roles to be that, but now i am thinking, are they too old? i already asked them and my stepmom and they seem excited.
also, my stepmom’s mom is making the Flower Girl dress and she is planning on matching the bridesmaids fabric and the color of black. is this right, or is she supposed to be wearing ivory like me?

At least ast those ages they won’t starting whining and crying and miss their cue to get down the aisle. Kids can be iffy, so you never know what they will do. And regarding the dress of the Flower Girl, it can be whatever you like, since its your day.

Those ages are fine. They would be more manageable, hopefully.

I’m having my niece be flower girl, and she will be 8 at the time. I was a flower girl when I was 10, and only b/c my little sister (who was 8) was too shy to do it. It turned out fine.
As for whether she should match you or the BMs, that it totally a matter of taste. I personally don’t care for flower girl dresses that match the bride, anyway- it actually kind of creeps me out to dress them like a mini-bride.
The dress I picked is actually not the same material as the BMs, but it is in the same color family.

ivory with black accents? maybe bow or something? just throwing that out there for an option =)

Don’t worry about whom they are “supposed” to match. I would go with more of what the girl would like. She is 8 after all, I’m sure she can tell you if she’d prefer white or black. She would be so cute in a dress that she loves and is more likely to be helpful if she feels good.
They sound like they will do a great job and look even better!

the ages are perfect, they will understand they need to behave and really have fun. I’m a big fan of sashes for girls dresses, so you could have an ivory dress with a black sash or the flip.

I think the ages are fine, but I don’t think I’d have her wear black. That’s a color that’s a little too old for an eight year old,I think. I like the ivory with black trim idea, tho.

I think they’re kind of at that borderline age where maybe they’re getting a bit too old… But if neither you nor the kids have a problem with it, go for it. The older sister of the pair I’m hoping to have as my flower girls will be almost eight by the time we get married, too.
I agree that ivory with black accents would look best because, as PP said, black is a little old.

The ages are great! As for the dress color, go with what you want… Personally, I want to be the only one in white, so I’d have her match the bridesmaids.

Thanks for your votes everyone! I am going to keep her wearing black, and her dress won’t look too “old” for her age b/c it will be in the form of a little girls dress (straps, etc), and I may add a champagne gold sash to it, depending what it looks like so it ties in w/ the wedding more. I want to be the only one wearing ivory 🙂 Well, and the fi on his vest 🙂
