There is no tried and true rule.  Go with whatever you want.  I have seen them in everything from a copy of the brides dress to a very pretty dress.  Personally I love the dresses that make them look like cute little girls and not minature adults.

My daughter will be almost 8 when i get married.  She will be wearing a white dress with emboidery on in the same colour as the embroidery on my wedding dress.  My two adult bridesmaids will be wearing dresses in the colour of the emboidery on my dress with white chiffon or satin sashes.  I dont think it matters what colour or style your flower girl is wearing, so long as she is comfortable with it and it does not look too out of place with the rest of the bridal party

Don’t think it really matters. I only went with white cause i couldn’t find a cute purple dress, but found a cute white one.

I say go with what you like ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t think it matters, but I think the white sounds very cute. Especially how Cookiepeeps plans to do it. Sounds so cute!

I think that is up to the bride! My flower girls are wearing white dresses. I gave their mom the option of matching the wedding (red) or wearing white, and she found some great white dresses for pretty cheap on ebay.

Just as every bride is different, the clothing her flower girl wears is also different. You get to pick the look that you like!

My flower girls will be in red. My BMs in black. I am personally not a fan of the FGs in white because I think they look like they are making their first communion. But that is totally just me! Like the other bees said, entirely up to you!!!

Totally up to you.

If you like the white dress idea but want to give it a little more “youth” having them wear colored Mary Janes or a little colored cardigan over the dress is a great idea.

At one wedding I went to, the FGs wore white dresses and bright yellow fairy wings! So cute and they LOVED their wings.

@magilnyc:  It’s intereresting that you say that.  I went to a wedding once where the flower girl was in a white dress…and it WAS a first communion dress.  She was actually wearing the bride’s first communion dress.

My FGs are in ivory and my BMs are in eggplant.  It’s a fancy dress with a poofy tea-length skirt (they love that) but not a mini-wedding dress.  It’s also too dark of a color to look communion-ish.  I wasn’t committed on a look–it just happens to be what I found.

I have seen most FGs in white and whatever the accent color of the wedding was. My daughter was a Flower Girl twice and the first time her dress was white with a red sash and red roses scattered over the skirt of the dress. The second time the dress was white with a blue sash and blue rose petals inside the tulle (I think) skirt.

My niece is the Flower Girl in my sister’s wedding and she is wearing a Flower Girl dress that has a white bodice and damask bottom accented with a yellow bow.

I think you can pretty much do anything you want as far as Flower Girl dresses b/c kids are so darned cute at that age they can pull anything off =)

We are letting the Flower Girl pick out their dresses, which of course means they will be pink or purple and princessy (3 flower girs who are 6 and 7 years old).  Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are clover green, so really any color they choose will be fine.

My flower girl’s mother has the best style Ive ever seen… Her childs woredrobe is better than mine!  I am just telling her my colors and told her just make her look sweet and match… I dont care if shes in white, or the color of the bridesmaids or an accent color… I just dont want her to look like a mini- bride
