So out of all the wedding expenses, flowers seem to be the most ridiculous. And you can;t completely blame the florist, flowers are pricey and florists want to make a pretty penny…
DJ was easy and reasonable. Photographers, needed extensive research but fairly priced for someone good and quality. Hall, caterer, etc- you know a price range, you find one you like. Eveything is out there.
But not with flowers.
I find centerpieces most important because the most time and most fun will be had at the reception. A good centerpiece florists are asking for 150 and up! You have 120 people, that’s 1800 just there. Then you need bouquets, alter/pew arrangements, lobby/card table, cocktail tables, etc…All for a product that will die a week later.
Now, i LOVE flowers- they make a room light up. So I’m going to spend a pretty penny on it. But I think its nuts!!
Also, my friends, RESEARCH and get SEVERAL proposals because I have had proposals run a range from 3000-5000 all for the same exact thing- I went in saying exactly what flowers and what style I want…so taht range is for the same stuff. And the more experienced, better flowers, better eye was actually the lowest price! The worse one was the highest!
Also, see a mock arrangement- whether you keep it, just see it, or even pay for it. TRUST ME, THIS IS VITAL.
Thanks for letting me vent! Flowers has been most stressful for a bride on a budget!
