I’m not quite sure how to describe the color of my wedding dress. I’m posting a picture of it, but I’m still not sure the photograph brings out the odd bright/dark blue that almost looks like someone put a droplet or two of teal in the mix if the light hits it right:
As you may have guessed, we’re having a simple wedding, but I do want to have some floral centerpieces at the reception, which is in early April. Does anyone have any advice on flowers or flower colors that complement this type of blue? Maybe a light green would sort of match? I have seen lots of advice to go yellow with blue, but the local college team’s colors are blue and gold and I therefore can’t stop associating the blue and yellow color scheme with a Pitt game. 🙂
I’m also thinking, with how simple everything else in the ceremony will be, of splashing out and getting some sort of crazy tropical bouquet. But I’m again unsure of an appropriate color scheme and would appreciate any advice (the wedding is happening the week before the reception, in another city, so the bouquet and centerpieces can be totally different and I don’t think it will look too weird).

What about white or cream calla lilies? or some valley of the lilies would be really sweet.

My color is Royal Blue, which is lighter than yours, but the flowers i picked are: cream roses, green orchids and blue delphinium!
I think the idea of Blue Green and White, or you can also add hot pink!

I think light pink and white would look amazing against that dress.

I totally think you should do something like Ivory, blush, cream & maybe even a pale yellow.. like these:

My only BM/MOH wore a dark navy dress and I choose a bright green bouquet mixed in with some white flowers. The florist used green spider mums, green roses and green orchids.
Here’s a picture:

I think white and light green would look really pretty. Or for something a little different, what about white and purple? That would be beautiful and really eye-catching, I think.

I just went to a wedding were the bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses and they had purple and pink bouquets. I was very impressed how well they went together. I can send you a picture if I remember later.

I second birdcastro, I was going to say coral and navy or coral and slate or coral and dark teal are some of my FAVORITE color combos ever! Will try to find a pic to illustrate how pretty the contrast is!

Thanks for all the ideas (and the gorgeous pictures)! Still not sure what I’ll pick, but the suggestions have been very helpful. 🙂
