I certainly don’t mean to be rude but I went to a wedding that had silk flowers recently and they looked incredibly cheap. It was the first thing I noticed. It was perfectly obvious they were silk. I’m not usually a woman who cares/judges people’s weddings, and I’m also very frugal and understand the immense cost of flowers but….I honestly thought the silk flowers looked chintsy. She also had a flower girl that was throwing silk rose petals…umm… I’m probably biased because I LOVE flowers and it’s one of the few things I’m willing to splurge on for my own wedding, but I have to strongly disagree with posters that say that “no one will notice that the centerpieces are silk.” Yes, they will. Will they care though? I certainly did but I don’t know if everyone is that way. I honestly believe real flowers are the way to go (when else in life would you buy large quantities of fresh flowers??) unless you have an allergy or something. They do in fact look better.

I choose silk and had a meltdown when the lady who made them told me, she couldn’t and she make a bouquet from fresh instead. Miscommunication that’s all and all was well. I wanted silk for a couple reason, they don’t wilt, don’t fall apart, cheaper and reusable. Fresh are well fresher, nice and look great. I’m not against them I just liked silk.

Here is a pic of my flowers.

Why not do a mixed bouquet of both? I had real and they were a little thirsty at the end. They looked incredible in the photos tho.

I selected other becuase i will be doing a mix of both for my wedding. For the most part im not a huge fan of silks because i can tell they aren’t real. The ones I wanted that looked real cost more than the real flowers. I do recognize there are amazingly beautiful silks that look real but they were to expensive. I found a florist in my budget that will be providing all the bridal party florals and the head table garland. I am doing a lot of candles and few large pomanders on 20″ vases. These will be silk. That was my compromise. So most of my flowers will be real with the exception of 6 pomander balls and 2 pergola tie backs! I also knew I wanted a more greenery viney bouquet so real would work best.
