@MarthaRocks: one of bridesmaids said you will always splurge on one big buy for the wedding…this was my big splurge…
I agree completely. We aren’t getting help from anyone but I have tried to keep other things underwraps when it comes to the budget. I didn’t spend too much on my dress (less than the budgeted amount) to make sure that we had extra allotted for flowers/decor.
To me this is and has been the most important part of the wedding, just my personal taste. it is what I notice and remember the most from other weddings only second to food.
For an update I have a quote pending with one other florist, hopefully hers is a bit lower. I do think that if I told the florist please keep it below $XXXX that they would be able to accomodate.

Oh my goodness, I got the quote last week. I opened my email and saw that it had come in, but I was at work, so I didn’t look at it yet. Instead, I went to grab the customer invoice I had just printed. I was focusing more on the floral quote, though, than on my job. I was worrying about the cost of the flowers, wondering how much it was going to be… And then I looked down and saw that the piece of paper I was holding said, “Total: $10,583.00”. I just about fell over. So glad I was looking at the customer invoice instead of my quote!

I am realllly cutting back on flowers. My wedding is in the winter so the BMs are holding muffs instead of bouquets. I am also making the bouiniers… $12-$15 for a bout? Forget it! I’m buying either calla lillies, or roses, cutting them to size, putting some floral tape arounf them and voila! Keep them in the fridge and spray them often 🙂 I’m also getting simple corsages probably from the grocery store for my mom etc..
That being said, since I’m only really paying for my bouquet, it’s going to be gorgeous.. a whole $160-$175 worth gorgeous 🙂 However it may also be reduced in price as I want a hydrangea in it and they aren’t in season, so I bought a fake one from Michaels to include with the real flowers 🙂

i was quoted almost $900 for one lily of the valley bouquet. i then changed my bouquet to red peonies. i’m paying $250 for my bouquet and $80 each for 6 bridesmaids bouquest (with red peonies and red cabbage roses).

get another quote from another florist. Ask around for recomendations from friends who recently got married.

Wow that is more than mine, guess I shouldn’t complain! My bouquet will be blush peonies and ivory roses ($175) as well with the bridesmaids having blush/ivory roses and hydrangeas ($75). That seems a bit high especially for the bridesmaids considering how in season and low cost hydrangeas are.
LOL I would DIE!!!!!!
