Question for Pregnant Bees/Momma Bees. Will you or Did you get a flu shot while pregnant?
My work is offering flu shots on Tuesday for $10 and I usually get one every year. From what I have read it is both a smart and wise move to get the flu shot while pregnant. I know there are sites out there linking flu shots to autism but those theories have been debunked right?
So please tell me what you are planning to do or what you did.
I just want to make sure I am making the right decision. I will also be calling my doctor and discussing with him as well.

im getting mine in 2 weeks time. We get them free here on the NHS if you are pregnant. The risk of getting flu and not having the jab out weighs the risks of having it.

Make sure it is the preservative free if you get it.
I am a nurse and my hospital requires it. Before they did I always declined the flu shot. being pregnant this year, I would get it anyways. My doctor is usually pretty relaxed baout optional things like the the flu shot, but highly recommends all pregnant women get it, as they fall in the high risk category.

I plan to get mine (I work in healthcare so I always get it- I used to work with chemo patients and now I work with children).
I would definitely suggest getting the shot and NOT the nasal spray- the spray is an attenuated virus (not completely dead).

Yes, I got the flu shot at my appointment this week. It was the first thing they asked when I walked in. I think it’s a good idea.

I got mine last week. (the same time as my kid.) We both got fevers that day, and the next morning, she was fine, and I was a hot mess. I don’t know if the shot made me sick, or if I got sick and it coincided with the shot, but even with how miserable I feel, the benefits of the flu shot far outweighed the risks.
It was actually my daughter’s pediatrician who lectured me on it, first for her, then for me.

I never bother with flu shots but I will probably get one now that I’m expecting.

Yes gettin one next week.

I am getting mine at my next OB appointment. They are giving us pregnant women the one with no preservatives and it’s a shot…not the spray.

Yes, my doctor practically insisted. I agree that, for me, the risk of complications due to the flu while pregnant (which have been proven) outweigh the risk of an unproven link between autism and flu shot.

Yup got mine last week at 25 weeks. I felt awful afterwards…nauseous, tired, headache, but it only lasted a few hours. My Ob’s office gave it to me so it should be ok!

I wouldnt pay for yours at your work. Your doctor should give it to you a one of your appointments..

I am wondering if I should get it at the doctors office instead?
I am not “out” at work yet and the shots are done in front of everyone so I am not sure I would be able to ask the nurse privately if it preservative free.
I may try emailing her.

You should call your OB and ask him/her what he/she recommends.

My doctor strongly suggested it so I got the flu shots at my 8 week appointment since it was flu season (back in December). They gave me the preservative free shot so I would definitely ask to see if they have that available. But you can always check to see what your doctor recommends too.
