So sorry, if it was a dog you could do something about it. Can you talk to the tomcat’s owners? Or is the tomcat a stray?

Oh, I am so, so sorry! Fluffy was adorable, may he RIP. One of my cats escaped our house when I was younger and was killed by a dog in my neighborhood–it was devastating. I’m so sorry for your loss.

It’s so sad to lose a furry member of your family, especially so suddenly and in such an untimely way. I’m so sorry for your loss and sending lots of love and comfort your way.

I would definitely either find the owner and let them know that they need to control their cat or keep him indoors or contact the local authorities to have the cat picked up. Otherwise, he could pose danger to other unsuspecting kitties as well.

@FluffysMama:  This is really sad.  In general, it’s safer for cats to be inside-only.  I’m a shelter volunteer and we recommend all cats be inside only.  There are too many dangers outside.

Depending on your local laws and regulations, I would call animal control or the SPCA about this incident.

@FluffysMama:  I’m so sorry, I lost my sweet furry baby last year and it was devastating.  You should definitely call animal control, you don’t want this happening to anyone else’s pet in the future.

Many years ago a German Shephard in the neighborhood took a chunk out of my dog’s back while we were on a walk, completely unprovoked.  I called animal control, they didn’t do too much (10-day quarantine, a house visit, made sure dog was getting behavioral training).  I later found out from neighbors that the same dog had attacked others in the neighborhood before it attacked mine, I wish those owners had called animal control because it may have prevented what my little girl went through.
